The maps are wonderfull. The spawning is what breaks them.

I agree about the spawning. Many a time I would lose a kill streak because of a fucker spawning right near me.

Black Ops broke Modern Warfare's 2 opening numbers and based on pricing, also beat out Avatar and other movies/game openings.

To be fair, Black Ops was released on more systems than Modern Warfare 2 but the numbers per console are a bit higher than MW2 was for Xbox 360 and PS3.

5.6 million for Black Ops vs 4.7 million for MW2.

It depends what you play. I play hardcore where it's a lot slower so spawning isn't so frantic. But regular core games can get messed up.

Well the way I see it, if I play and dont like it after say a week, I can just post it online and get rid of it for a few bucks less then what I bought it for.

Are you guys on the console?

I haven't noticed the spawning being an issue on PC. Then again, I've never been one to sit tight in an area, I constantly move.

Running and gunning is the most fun part of this game, but it is made horrible by the spawns.

Like, you can literally spawn FIVE FUCKING FEET from someone on the other team.

The only thing that gives me hope about this is that Treyarch said they are committed to stopping cheaters, and to keeping their game fun. Said they 'learned a lot' from MW2's successes and failures. So hopefully they aren't retarded and actually patch the game quickly to keep their playerbase happy.

lol no way the next transformers beats Avatar. Not even on the same level, man. Avatar's only flaw was the glaring plothole at the end (check the spoiler tag if you didn't see it). So much more that Transformers would need to work on before coming close.

Why would the humans just give up after losing 1 battle? They would absolutely come back with heavy artillery and burn that fucking tree down. No ground assualt, just straight up bombs over Baghdad till all the giant blue fuckers are dead.

So I've spent good deal of time with this now, and I've mostly had a really fun experience so far. I do have some gripes that I wanna vent about for a second though. So here goes.

1. Spawns are fucking horrible!
2. Matchmaking is dumb. It is a bitch to get a party with more than 4 people into the same game. I haven't been able to get all my friends in the same game yet. It feels like I spend more time trying to get into a game, than actually playing the game.
3. Some of the perks are useless. Warlord is basically bling, so you think it would be badass like bling was, but no it is horrible. You can't combine hardly anything together, like no flamethrower/silencers, no grenade launcher/anything. Scavenger is stupid, as it doesn't replenish equipment, grenades, flamer fuel, or tactical grenades. Though I'm hoping scavenger pro might help out here. Ninja is not necessary at all, as footsteps are practically nonexistent. Why should I ever use it?
4. Sniping is completely fucked. That delay they added to stop quickscopers, makes sniping under pressure or trying to get that guy with lightweight on before he reaches a corner near impossible.
5. All of the shotguns are way too weak, and have no range what so ever. I thought since they where going back to primary, that they would be pretty deadly. I can't get anything, but hitmarkers whenever I try to use them.

I'm not a "Call of Duty guy" but I am thinking about buying Black Ops purely out of curiosity.

I haven't played an FPS in a long time and now I'm in the mood to play one. But people keep bitching about it on Facebook and It's making me have second thoughts about buying the game.

People on Facebook keep bitching about the maps being shit, the gameplay is clunky and glitchy, the balance being ruined, online is slow, the aiming is shit and if you shoot someone they dont get hit unless it's the centre mass.

Then they all go on about how majestic MW2 was.

So I'm just curious what you guys think of it because I do know Facebook is a hotbed of people just pointlessly bitching about stuff but it still has me thinking twice about buying the game.

The gameplay mechanics of this game are far more balanced than MW2, I feel. Just what they did with perks, etc.. I kind of like that you can't replenish tubes or claymores with scavenger, as that was -broken- in MW2. The fact that claymores are even more powerful in this game makes it better that you can't replenish them.

Also, yeah I think some of the sounds are 'fucked up', cause there's no point to Ninja and you can't even hear the click of the claymores, if there is one.

I swear to God, I lead a charmed COD life. Because I have experienced no major issues with the spawns.

Also love that Treyarch went and took out much of the stuff that people bitched endlessly about in MW2, like quickscoping and noobtubes getting replenished, and then people bitch about that. I know that online communities will always find something to bitch about, but this is crossing into parody.

I don't think Scavenger refilling noobtubes was that bad, unless you had a shitty team the kept dieing around you, you actually had to go get the refill and risk getting killed.

Noobtubes in this game are pretty powerful. You don't see them that often, but holy shit they are they accurate and powerful. The fact that you can't replenish them is what makes it fair, otherwise it would be -worse- than MW2.

Nah. With the way the spawns are you would just get shot in the back by the guy you just tubed, while trying to scavenge for a refill. I really want to know why warlord was nerfed down so much. It just seems like a really stupid thing to do.

I never understood the bitching about quickscoping. As it is as much of an legitimate strategy as drop shotting is, but unlike drop shotting it took a little bit of skill to get good at it. The way they went about fixing quickscoping is just a big FU to people who snipe.

I haven't actually used a noob tube yet in this game but I heard that they explode or something after a short period of time making it so no more spawn tubing at the start of a match
