To point a gun upward, you would tilt your head/shoulder/wrist back.

Fine.

It still makes sense to move the mouse down to look up in an FPS game because in order to point a gun upward you would have to tilt you head/shoulder/wrist back.

For a controller I play inverted as it feels more natural but for the mouse I play normal. It's more to do with what I find to be comfortable.

LOL at the idea of people playing inverted to be cool or different.

I play inverted because it feels more "natural." Keep in mind we're talking "natural" when manipulating a character entirely with my thumbs and a couple fingers.
