I'm with those who says that a cancellation of Impact means TNA would die. If people aren't watching for free, a return to weekly PPV's isn't logical.
Its too bad going to Mondays didn't really work out for them. I, like many of you, had high hopes. I haven't seen much of Impact since I bowl on Monday nights, but based on feedback and reports, it seems to me that this show has been somewhat a train wreck. Heard last week was a pretty darn good show, and this week was awful. This is only based on what I've read. Anyway, so many of you have great ideas on who should be head booker. How Dixie should give up any and all creative control she might have. How certain writers should be hired/fired. How JR and Heyman should come in. How new and current TNA original stars need to be pushed. I am with you guys. But even if all this stuff happened, I don't see Impact ever getting half the ratings WWE gets. Ever. Not in a month, not in a year, not ever. Impact will never get a 2.0 rating. What is going to be a "good" rating for their return to Thursdays? 1.3? 1.4? I'd love to see TNA go live every week, do some of the things you posters have said... but even then, there is nothing they can do to compete with WWE. Just put on your best show, get your ratings up to 1.8, we don't necessarily need competition with WWE, just be the other option. Good luck TNA, you need it. |

If iMPACT! gets cancelled, it would be the best thing for several of the wrestlers in TNA because they could go to Japan and be respected or go to WWE and at least get paid what they deserve to be shit on in front of 10s of 1000s of people.

It didn't seem to affect them too much last time. In fact they became stronger because of it. Just depends if there would be anymore networks out there for TNA. I can't really see Spike cancelling TNA anyway though.

I don't think they would have much of chance if the show was eventually cancelled. They would survive a little longer after that, but the moral hit would take a pretty huge toll. That being said, I do think they stand to gain from bringing in the WWE guys. I kind of liked how WCW use to handle some of the guys who jumped ship. They used them to continue to help make their own guys into stars, kind of like DDP.

Japan means either too much violence or a long time away from their family thus ending the only advantage TNA had while WWE won't be taking in many, and everyone will have a "Screw-You" period like Christian just came out of.

Don't feed him ideas. If they join forces, it will be a negative force to reckon with :P

Nah pretty sure punk would've tarnished his thread like none of us could. Just because he's punk.

They debuted on Monday Night, but they were on Thursdays too before they jumped exclusively to Monday Nights, which is the point I was trying to make, you cock.

Possibly technically true, but Jeff was part of TNA prior to this run in the "Monday Night Wars."
Not inherently, but one generally argues in the good faith belief they are correct, unless the intent is either to play "Devil's Advocate" or to be disingenuous. So.... Hogan's certainly been around before, and didn't have an "Impact!" in the past. Nor did Hardy. And when we look at the other big names to have come in, none of them, either. Flair is "new," debuting at the live Impact, begging the question "So what?" Bisch, I think, is also "new," but still begging that same question. All the other times new talent was going to change the business? Sting? Christian? Angle? Hogan, Flair, RVD, Hardy were all supposed to make the Monday Night Wars happen. Is there anything here that doesn't smack of more of the same? So, we have Hogan, Flair and Bischoff mentioned in the post Juan commented on. One of those is certainly not new to the company, the other two are arguable at best. But ignoring Juan's status as right or wrong, it's not exactly bolstering the idea that they're going to thrive on Thursday nights. |

IF TNA gets cancelled, I don't see them going back to weekly PPV, and here's why:
Lots of the TNA talent are specifically in TNA because of the work schedule - 2-3 consecutive days then 11-12 off. If you go to a live weekly PPV lots of the boys (and girls) will be less than happy. If you continue with one week live/one week taped then how many people will really be interested in paying for the taped one when they can get the results from teh interwebslol for free? As to what they WOULD do, I honestly have no idea. |
