I had never actually seen him perform, so whatever...

I do of course read results online, and what puts me off is how he enters as Vickies boyfriend (which as someone mentioned above was a terrible idea), but even worse was how, like three weeks later or something, they've split up and now feuding. Character overkill right there.

I am surprised people miss him? I didn't like anything that was done with him. I don't think he had much persona either. Was he misused? perhaps...as previously suggested, I to agree that a lady's man would gain some serious heat.

Are guest hosts adding or removing ratings?


Ideally, having popular celebrities as guest hoses should just increase the ratings because people who know and like these celebrities should turn in to watch the WWE.

But it seems that if u look at the ratings, it hasnt increased and also it seems that ratings are even going down since the guest hosts started.

I think that guest hosts are actually removing ratings. Here is why. Look, if you are just some normal guy who doesnt watch wrestling but say, u are a big fan of Rob Zombie (for example) and one night he guest hosts Raw. However, its only advertised on Raw that Rob Zombie is hosting, u dont hear it on the internet or on the radio. So you dont know he is guest hosting and wont tune in.

Now lets say ur a wrestling fan. U hate Rob Zombie, so you know he is hosting next week and you say, "sCrew it I have better things to do than to watch that D-bag". So ideally, Raw should have had +1 rating and -1 rating, equalling out and at a minimum should not lose ratings, but because most celebrities fans would not know that they host RAW and some may hate wrestling so much that they wont watch anyway, the fact is, we only get the -1 for each fan who says, "I aint watching".

So I think the guest hosts are removing ratings.

Now dont get me wrong, I like the guest hosts but I dont think its a good decision for the WWE to have because it isnt working like they thought it would.

What do u guys think?

Well atleast now the non-wrestling guest hosts have a much smaller role on tv than earlier, so WWE are adapting. Slowly.

Ratings always drop after WM. Depending on how popular the guest host is will depend on how many people they bring in. If they ever get Lebron (Which was reported he was going to come with Shaq), ratings would go crazy. We will have to at least wait for the NBA playoffs, or the Cavs to get eliminated before that happens though.

Although, ratings will not drop because the guest host is garbage. Not many people will be like "Ozzy Osborn is going to be on Raw, mess that I am not watching". Most people will just say how stupid it is and still watch (Since they are not watching for the guest host).

I have liked a few of the hosts and honestly it does make me want to tune in. I like to see what they do and how badly they do it. I like watching for name botches and bad acting. Personally, I hope it goes away and we get Regal back in charge before his ass gets fired....but for short term it isn't that bad. I'm sick of it reallly but that doesn't mean I don't pop in each week to see what kind of asses they are making of themselves.


so basically its a love hate relationship for me regarding the guest hosts.

I actually think that TNA had much less of an effect on the ratings than people think. Most folks who watch TNA will stick with it, but a lot of them are wrestling fans in general who might rather watch Raw, hence the ratings with Impact lately. I don't think the guest host deal has done anything for the ratings, at least nothing good. It seems like the ratings have been doing a very slow one step forward and two steps back kind of thing for a real long time.

This is an empirical question. Look at the ratings before the Guest Hosts and look at the ratings now. Let us know what you find.

Not really. The nielsens were giving most of the pre-Mania shows 2.Xs, which was undeniably down. Blaming TNA is irrational, too, since prior instances of Monday TNA didn't have a significant impact on the ratings of Raw.

Raw also clearly wasn't losing .7 or .8 most nights anyway. There may be an exception or two, but there was no correlation between Impact viewers and a decrease in Raw viewers.

And you can't just say "I think some poeple don't like the guest hosts, they must be hurting the ratings." You need to actually look at the ratings.

I think that aside from January 4, when Bret Hart was Guest Host, every other Guest Host has really had no effect one way or the other in the ratings.

The recent guest hosts have either had no spark, no storyline or creative control, or just no talent.

Rumor has it that The Rock will come this summer to HIJACK the Guest Host role for a few weeks which would bring up ratings...

But, if WWE got people like Conan O'Brien as guest host, then that'd be hot.

The majority of WWE fans still prefer Raw over Smackdown, so I'm guessing that even though people complain every week about the guest hosts, they don't think it's that bad.
