Danielson in that video doesn't strike me as someone with the threat of being fired hanging over him so I think we can safely say that, if true, this decision was made Thursday or Friday - based on this so-called complaint from a third party.

I'd hate to be talent in the WWE right now, one wrong move and you may not even know it was a wrong move for several days.

It's gotta be a work. Or at least all signs point to it being a work.

1) If the choking thing was such a huge deal that was taken so seriously that a one time use would get a guy fired, then surely WWE would want to phase out chokeslams as well. They'd probably want to shy away from sleeper holds too. But they haven't.

2) Danielson worked an FCW show on Wednesday. They cut the Roberts clip out from NXT on Tuesday. If a guy's in trouble and in danger of losing his job, you don't let him keep working. You suspend him pending further investigation.

3) Danielson was way too calm on his Twitter for a guy who got fired.

4) The release is not on the WWE Corporate site. Carlito's is.

5) The higher ups thinking it's real means nothing. They work for a wrestling company. They can play along too.

6) Only a handful of people knew about the NXT invasion on Raw in order to add to the realism. So if realism is the goal, hey why not keep everyone in the dark on this too?


Of course I could be dead wrong, but I highly doubt it.

I think it's not a work, because I don't think WWE would want to use the Benoit rule as part of a storyline to get some guy or storyline over.

I say 75% that it's legit.

I wouldn't fire him over it, but I would damn sure tell him not to do it ever again.

It seems like the type of thing that would get you in hot water, but wouldn't get you fired. It would be the most ridiculous thing ever if what you guys are saying is true.
If it was, then I'll eat my words and probably lose a substantial amount of interest in WWE.

I think a chokeslam, and choking a guy with a rope or a tie are two different things.

You have a point with the rest of the stuff though.

I don't think the WWE is using the Benoit rule though. That's one of the scenarios the IWC has seemed to cook up in their panic over this being potentially legit

I agree with the other points, but Carlito's is the only release on the Corporate site. Mickie James, Shelton Benjamin, and every other release this year went unmentioned. Carlito just got mentioned because it was a Wellness-related firing.

If it IS a work, I don't exactly know how they kayfabe-wise explain how a guy without a contract still managed to get fired, but we'll see.

Raw is a must-watch this week, for certain.

Because this was done to screw with the IWC. The IWC all knew Danielson was under contract and that he wasn't actually competing for a spot in WWE.

The only things that point to it being real would be that thinking WWE masterminding and IWC viral marketing campaign for their latest storyline seems to be giving them too much credit.
That's the thing here. What they're doing is something they've never done before.

I still refuse to believe WWE would fire somebody because of a choke. If anything they'd post a message on WWE.com saying "We apologize for those offended by the graphic content when -insert content here-" or whatever.

Just doesn't feel like a "one strike and you're out" type deal, especially somebody with the experience and credibility of Danielson. If it was any other NXT rookie I could maybe see the intolerance, but not with him.

Seriously, that's the type of thing that gets you a slap on the wrist or a trip to the "doghouse", or a fine, or at the very most a suspension.
I can never in my wildest dreams see that being cause to fire a talent, especially one that they have plans for.

I have no idea where they're going with this. But I had no idea before this story came out either. It didn't really make sense for Danielson to be Barrett's lackey after Danielson did so much to stand out on NXT. But I didn't really question it because I was just happy he was on tv.

Think the reports stated that only Cena and the NXT rookies knew what was going to happen to garner the 'real life reaction', hence why Cole ran off.

The more I think about things though, the more I think the real reason hasn't been divulged.

If Danielson updates his Twitter before Monday, it's legit. if he doesn't, I'm sure he's showing up.
