Hearing from who? Give us some quotes. I can't recall any of the English posters on here predicting an England win.

As has been suggested by several people already, are you just mixing up the press and companies trying to sell products with the English people?

English media normally absolute fiends for talking up their chances, this has been by far the least talked up English side I've ever witnessed media wise. Obviously The Sun and the likes of Talksport are still talking them up, they appeal to the fucking spastics of the country but proper sports journalists have been perfectly realistic about England's chances.
