In the WWE it is Nattie or Beth. Michelle McCool and Layla both deserve mentions for most improved. Eve has improved quite a bit from knowing nothing but being athletic to using various submissions. It's actually a good time for WWE Women's wrestling, minus the fact that most of them don't have characters.

In the WWE Beth and Gail Kim spring to mind. I really enjoy Laycool, there are the GREATEST but they constantly make huge improvements and are highly entertaining. In TNA you have to nod at the hard work Velvet Sky puts in because she is the face of their product but she is very John Cena in the sense that her work is lacking. US Indy SARA DEL RAY and MS. Chif are amazing. And I'm completely out of touch with current Joshi anything so I have no comment.

Right now I'd have to go with Beth Phoenix as well.although from what I've seen in FCW and on Raw Tamina is one to look out for.

Taylor Wilde is pretty good for what little the Knockouts have left to offer
Hamada is in that group too In WWE I would say Nattie & Beth are the best. Bring in Kong WWE...for serious. |

Hey when was Sarah Del Ray released from ROH I thought she was fantastic i'd taker her over the likes of Mickie James anyday! To answer the thread i'd have to go with Natalya for skill and Maryse for it factor. As for who i'd say who been the most underrated up until as of late i'd say Layla I hope she gets to hold the championship on her own soon.

As far as the main promotions go, I would say Mickie James, Awesome Kong, Melina and Sarita is showing improvement. On the indy scene, there are a good number of female talents who are often overlooked.

Excellent topic!!!!!!!! In my opinion some of the best women's wrestlers are Beth Phoenix who is my current favorite and my second favorite of all time next to Lita, Natalya, Mickie James, Sara Del Ray, Alissa Flash/Cheerleader Melissa, Victoria/Tara, MsChif and Gail Kim are who I would say are the best. I am a big fan of women's wrestling.
There are other women I find talented based on improvement and trying in the ring to get better. Eve is the perfect example of this for me. I think with some more time she will be even better. She is beautiful and can have a good match. Michelle McCool, though not a favorite has become very good in the ring and I have to hand that to her. I like Serena as well. She hasn't really been given a chance to wrestler yet but she is pretty good. I also feel Tiffany is quite decent in the ring and Kelly Kelly has come farther along than I thought she would to this point. I am not a big fan of Alicia Fox. I feel she is really sloppy in the ring. Maryse is awful in the ring but she looks good and I like her as a valet better instead of in the ring. I've never liked Layla and probably never will. I'll give her credit in terms of showing improvement in the ring but I just don't think she should be women's champion. Rosa sucks but looks great. I also am a fan of Tamina. She could be like the new Jazz. In terms of TNA, Velvet Sky is my favorite. I think her mic work is quite good and I have been a fan of hers since I saw her in WXW back in 2004. I like Lacey Von Erich who I believe is not as bad as people make her out to be. I think Daffney is good too. I've liked her since 2000. Sarita is a favorite of mine as well. I just hope TNA allows her to do more. The Knockouts segment on Impact was pretty good. As soon as Velvet left though I lost interest as I felt she was the glue for the segment. Angelina and Madison are alright but I just am not huge fans of either. Women's wrestling for the most part right now is pretty good. I usually look forward to those segments weekly. As I said above, Lita was the best to me. She just amazed me every week and she was a red head with a different look than the blondes. I miss Lita more than anybody else in wrestling. Since the second she walked out with Essa Rios and emulated what he was doing, I became an instant fan and no women's wrestler can touch her in my eyes. I supported her in every facet of her career face or heel. It would be awesome to see her have one more match with Michelle McCool or Eve. Last edited by Wolfpack423; 07-16-2010 at 09:44 AM. |

Speaking of Melina, has there been any official word concerning when, if ever, she's set to return?

gotta get this off my chest:
women in this buisness are treated as second class wrestlers and it starts the moment they step threw the door. they are babied threw training because...why? because they dont need to be expected to work as well as anyone else? or because theyre too weak to keep up? no. it has nothing to with inferiority. they are inferior because they arent pushed hard enough at any point...but why? because the boys want to fuck em. simple as. they get them in and treat the like theyre china dolls are given slack because they only their so the boys can fuck em. and sadly these girls HAVE to put out if they hope to get a spot. and who ever is riding it hard has got the spot, so again, no one expects them to deleiver cause theyre delivering in the back. instead of treating them like theyre equals, or heaven forbid, athletes. athletes with the same creative and athletic ability as the guys. and in the process they miss the chance to get some of the female demographic that they cant that they struggle to touch. its an embarassment to the entire industry and truley to me shows just how carny we really are. |

Yeah, it's quite a shame, because you do get some amazingly talented women out there. I am trying to imagine a women's division consisting of the following:
* Amazing Kong * Angel Williams * Beth Phoenix * Cheerleader Melissa * Gail Kim * Hamada * Jillian Hall * Katie Lea * Layla * Lexi Lane * Lita * Maryse * Michelle McCool * Mickie James * Natalya * Sara Del Ray * Sarah Stock * Serena * Shantelle Taylor * Talia Madison * Victoria That's 21 talented women (to different degrees and with different strengths right there). Imagine that split over two WWE brands. That's not even taking into consideration the other girls the WWE has that are steadily improving (Eve Torres, Alicia Fox, Kelly Kelly, Tiffany, Tamina, etc.). It's really sad that TNA's Knockouts actually got their highest ratings for a long time (I don't know if that's still true), and yet they pay them next to nothing. Those girls made money for TNA, and they are pushed to the back of the bus. Also, it feels like the Knockouts Division is suffering through some of the most erratic and random booking in the entirety of TNA. Like they are purposely trying to sabotage the division. And then you have the departures of Awesome Kong (over bullshit), Roxxi (for like the tenth time over bullshit), Tara (although she's back) and the like. |

I was going to use the ring names they currently use for the list, but I figured that in the WWE they'd use new trademarks, so I just went with property I believe either the WWE or the performer owns (although in the later case, the talent would no doubt have their names substituted for something else).
Layla has really been impressing me on SmackDown!. I feel that, personality wise, she is the stronger member of Laycool (very similar to how Angelina Love may have been more talented, but Velvet Sky had more character), and in the ring she has gotten leaps and bounds better. I'll confess to have not watched Eve wrestle too much recently, but what I've seen from Layla has been short and sweet, but really tight. Plus, she continues to become more and more of wet dream of mine. I mean, just think of some of these feuds: Amazing Kong vs. Beth Phoenix: The two powerhouses of the division collide. Lita vs. Serena: Lita comes in as CM Punk's new squeeze in the Straight Edge Society (playing off their real-life relationship). Serena becomes jealous, and decides she wants to prove herself against Lita. Angel Williams & Talia Madison vs. Laycool: The two parallels do battle. Victoria vs. Natalya: "Hey bitch! Remember when we used to be best friends?" The ring work between these girls would be great, too. Amazing Kong vs. Gail Kim: Based off their TNA rivalry. Mickie James vs. Victoria: Psycho bitch vs. psycho bitch. And that's just scraping the obvious ones off the top. You could even put some of them together in tag teams. Despite the existing ones, you could have Amazing Kong & Beth Phoenix join up as a "Two Woman Power Trip," Mickie James & Shantelle Taylor form a bond over being released from the company, "Team Sara(h)" could consist of Sara Del Ray & Sarah Stock, etc. |
