I miss the good'ol days when this 1 game would get it's own thread with more posts then the NFL season thread and more hype and importance then the first round of the playoffs and be called the "AFC Championship preview".

I don't think either one gets passed either Pittsburgh or Ravens, and I know that Patriots beat them both, but the Browns also acted like New Enland was it's bitch, so I'm not sold on the Pats.

Pats and Colts are both definitely making the playoffs and can beat everyone else in the AFC. The AFC is all messed up this year, but the Pats and Colts are still the standard.

The Browns thing could also just be a shit performance though. It was a trap game and sometimes mediocre teams beat good ones. Just depends on how they play that day. Such is NFL Football.

I don't know that the Patriots are a great team this year. But one embarassing loss doesn't tell the whole story. They have their problems, but every team in the league does. There's no real standout.
I suppose it will be easier to tell which teams are the top dogs in the next couple of weeks. I know The Pats are playing a lot of top teams.

Steelers, Colts, Lions on Thanksgiving, Jets, Bears, Packers.

That's a tough run. I think if they come out of that well, they are looking strong for the playoffs. I think all of those games are national games too, except maybe the Bears.

The Patriots just don't have the defense it's going to take to make the stops in the playoffs. I could be wrong though. Bellicheck has done a good job with the defense so far, that being said, not even Bellicheck can call a gem every game like he did yesterday.

Sure, but can they win 3 or 4 games? Against the teams in the NFL now, I think so.

You can also say the same thing about all of those teams defenses with the Pats offense. It has a lot of energy and Brady only tends to get better as the season goes on. He also seems way more hungry this year.
I know that's a crapshoot, but it's an observation from someone who watches every Pats game. I haven't seen Tom Brady seem to care this much since the 2007 season.
Maybe earlier than that, since they didn't have to fight very hard that year.

7-5 Pats, since Brady and Manning were both in, if I counted right.

Although one of those Colts wins was against Cassel during Brady's injury season. So count that how you will.

Dude. I said in my post that it's a crapshoot, and just an observation. I was merely pointing out that Brady is playing way better/competitively than he has since the Patriots stronger years.
Last year was different. Has nothing to do with the rest of the team. I'm speaking about one player, who obviously has a large impact on the teams post-season aspirations.

You still need your defense to make stops, and I'm not confident that the Pats can from what I have seen this year. Still Bellicheck has done a great job when you consider what he's working with.

True. And that's really what it meant. It was part of my comment on the offense.

The main point was that despite possible defensive problems, the offense is looking stronger and other teams have similar problems.
It's definitely a season where the field of teams is closer. A lot of potential contenders and no real standouts, yet.

Sure. But what team are you confident about going deep into the post-season? More so than the Patriots? It's hard to say.

I don't want to turn into a target here, because obviously the ill feelings about the Patriots mount quickly in these threads.

I'm not saying they are better than any of the best teams so far. No gloating here. But are they worse? I have a hard time saying any other team in the league is really much better. And I'm a Pats fan, so I could be biased, but yea...

If the Patriots do win the Superbowl, then there will be no question has to who the greatest coach in history is. And to think, 15 years ago nobody wanted the guy and said he was the worst coach you could possibly hire. Ain't that some shit now.

No ill will, I think Bellicheck is a coaching genius, and like him alot. I just feel the Pats been very fortunate in the way some games turned out for them. I think teams like Pittsburgh and the Ravens have a better chance simply because they have solid defences, good running games, and a solid set of recievers. That said, they could meet the Patriots in the playoffs and be completly out-coached the way Pittsburge was yesterday. I know what you are saying though, and the AFC is wide open for the top 6 teams really.

It's only natural to wish your favorite team would win every year. Especially in seasons where they could have. I think every fan does/would wish that.

Pats fans just seem to get singled out as ungrateful by a lot of fans because they're supposedly "unhappy" with multiple titles, but really it's just a case of wanting the team to win. I'm pretty sure every Pats fan is quite happy with the wins. Nothing wrong with wanting more and regretting the ones that got away.

Feel like anytime I bring up the Pats in threads here tons of people are like "fuck you", even if I'm rarely a tool about it.
Although I do kinda view a non-title season as a semi-failure, but isn't that really the point?

I kinda blame Matt Light and the O-line for that. But I 100% give The Giants their credit. They clearly showed up. The Super Bowl trophy = best team of the year. It was a pretty ugly game. Seemed like a million things could be blamed.

That Tyree catch was outrageous. He had a horseshoe up his ass for that. Then there was the fucking abyssmal Asante Samuel INT drop.
Just everything went wrong, obviously.

When I said 2008 I meant that Super-Bowl. With 2007, I meant the AFC Championship Game against The Colts that they blew in the 4th quarter. Then the Colts trounced the Bears.

I went by the year of the Super-Bowl and not the season, my bad.

The playoff game against the Broncos in the 2006 post-season was also a huge disappointment.

on the 2007 superbowl I blame the defensive line... stories on the final drive that Richard Seymore was telling the Giants offense "Don't worry, you're all invited to our victory party"... yeah, it's more then that and most of all give the Giants credit for playing great.

ok, now 2010...

The Browns game was a wakeup call, I missed it but from what I was told the Pats were physically beat, and then the next week the Browns almost beat the Jets... so maybe? maybe? the Browns aren't that bad?

Until Sunday night, I thought the Steelers were the team to beat... now, wide open... Steelers, Colts, Jets, Ravens, Pats..

The defense is playing great, but again... it's young and will make mistakes... big mistakes at a big moment... I think Homefield could mean a lot (yes, I remember the 1st round of the playoffs last year)...

More important will be the first round byes... I think you could see multi tied teams... the Pats have the tie breaker on the Steelers and Ravens... the Pats need to beat the Jets in foxboro... If they don't i'll assume the Jets will be the Division winner.
