A rumor gets dropped that Jeff showed up to the show looking "out of it," that the backstage fell into a chaotic scramble to figure out how to work around it, etc, etc, and immediately everyone jumps up to rally against Jeff Hardy like he's the fucking anti-christ. It's just such a severe form of haterism and it's ridiculous.

Well...he hasn't exactly maintained a "squeaky clean" image, so...he hasn't helped matters.
