I never really got the excessive bitching, I agree the Attitude Era had more creative freedom and PG isn't as good as TV-14 but it still entertains me and if I hated it I wouldn't watch it/spend time bitching online about it.

That's nice, except one of the things about the Attitude Era was that it kept things fresh. Even the bad steps were new and exciting. the crowds were hot, people tuned in to see what was happening.
So it's nice, but neatly misses the point. But then, so does the whole "appreciate it for what it is" nonsense. People are. It's just that, you know, nothing happens in a vacuum.
It's even dumber since WWE spends plenty of time reminding us of the prior product.

Hey I totally agree with all of that. But lets be honest, do any of us really see the product changing anytime soon? And if people were accepting it for what it was we wouldn't have these threads.
There's a difference between sooking about a sucky show and sooking because it's not like it was 10 years go.

Wow, I had so much to say but this thread has developed quite nicely without me.
'All's I'm saying' is that old-washed up, out of shape ex-WCW stars appearing at Wrestlemania 27 doesn't appeal to me, after 'Hardcore Justice' I hope we don't get any more One Night Stand/Hardcore Reunion/Justice/ECW shows, I'm digging the PG-stuff, whilst there are a few things that bug me, it's no different than the Attitude Era, and I'm sick of Duncum Jr. constantly coming out of retirement! :foc:

Also..
When Vickie Guerrero is screaming and showing her fat ass as she tries to do a frog splash off the top rope, I'd consider that a loss for the product when a percentage of the viewers turn the channel in disgust.
the only brave heels of the attitude era were the monsters like show or kane. hhh is one of the best heels of all time and he has always had a faction behind him

Pretty wrong there Rammestein.
The reason why you're tired of seeing the ECW guys or the retired hall of famers from WWE is because they are used frequently.
The ex WCW stars aren't used as much and a lot of us grew up watching the Monday Night Wars.
I for one would enjoy seeing some old rivalry matches on Wrestlemania, not some legends vs new shit that they toss in.
Miz is good, Morrison is good, but isn't it all a little too predictable these days?
The backstage beat downs, the ho trains, the through the crowd fighting...etc.. that was entertaining.. Seeing people thrown off a cage, now that was WRESTLING...
If I want to watch Miz and his PG self, I'll turn on Kermit the Frog and reminense about those old times.
That's gr8 you enjoy the PG ERA.. Ask your dad to buy you a Cenanation t shirt to really top it all off.
I'll buy Hardys Screw PG shirt.

No that was a stunt.

yeah and as an 11 yr old, I thought they were cool!
The Attitude Era inspired my generation to take up Backyard Wrestling and to get more involved in physical hobbies.
I bet Adam Evans misses the Attitude Era.

I was a child of the 1980's (ten years old in '88) and there are a lot of things from that decade that I sorely miss.
Those were the days when the M in MTV stood for music, not mundane... when I would spend Saturdays playing "Pac-Man" at the local video game arcade, or "Red Rover" with my cousins in our backyards... and when I would eat "Candy Cigarettes," and watch "Alf," "Chips," and "You Can't Do That On Television". That was also when I believed in Santa Clause, before the beginning of "Sports Entertainment," and before I figured out that everything in wrestling is a work.
My point is, IMO, a lot of things were better back then. A lot of you weren't here in the 1980's and you missed out on a lot. There's plenty about the WWE that I enjoy today, that's why I still watch it. But if I had a choice between being a kid again, watching "wrestling," and having the illusion that it's "real," or being an adult and watching "Sports Entertainment," I'd go back to the 80's in a heartbeat.

FTR I've been a wrestling fan since 1993. But since my last post told you to fuck off out of this thread, I don't expect you to see this.

I watched wrestling in the 80s. Had to sneak it over at friends houses, so I didn't watch it all the time, but I've seen the good and the bad.
But hey, if you don't think the Attitude Era is the end all, you probably like Cena!

Anyway, the Attitude Era had a lot of trash, like any other era. What kept it going is that everything was so exciting, even the shite seemed exciting. 90s era 2 Cool got larger pops than most of the main eventers these days. That's not to say they were brilliant wrestlers, or hugely charismatic, but they were huge because the Attitude Era was huge. Jamming your arse in someone's face could get over, dancing around as neon wiggers could get you over, being a porn star could get you over, talking to a head could get you over....You get the point.
People often complain about the PG Era for the wrong reasons. it's not so much that it's PG that's the problem, it's that it's...boring. The dumb shit looks worse because the product isn't as exciting. With Nexus, shit got exciting. I had a few weeks there where I tuned into every show with the same sort of anticipation as I did in the Attitude Era.
So basically, what I'm saying is the PG Era can still be good. I don't miss the blood or the barbed wire, I miss the excitement. and what really killed the Nexus Angle to most of us is that it suddenly became very predictable. I don't want the old era back, just the excitement.
If that makes sense.
This thread should have been renamed to "Calling all trolls" by now.
Rammsteinmad 03:11 PM 01-03-2011
For the record KK, I enjoyed the Attitude Era as much as anyone, but the whole point of this thread is basically about everyone who's still whinging about the PG era and how 'WWE was awesome in the AE but sucks now'.
And same for all the 'which WCW stars should we see in WWE?' posts.
Edit: Oh yeah, and your post makes sense.

I get that, but the era does kind of suck.
that's why ratings are down, crowds are quieter, and we have middling champs who are more a "see what sticks" approach. I mean, I like Sheamus, feller, but the fucker was put up too fast, and largely as a trial.
Trying out guys at the top is a horrible idea, even if I liek some of them, but it's a product of the era.
