Technically yes. But from what I can gather, the owners have all of the bargaining power in this situation...and they feel the players are asking for too much.
The owners who sit in the luxury suites have the power already and will still be filthy rich whether there is football or not. Whereas the players who are the ones busting their asses and risking injury each and every week are the ones backed into the corner, especially the guys about to hit free agency and who will be unemployed until this is resolved. Sure, a lot of players will still be well off without paychecks, but they aren't making anywhere close to the amount the owners make. If/when this gets settled, the owners will still get the better end of the deal by a huge margin. I doubt most (but not all) of them care that football is important to a lot of people in this country...so they have little reason to cave in to the players. |
