Only reasoning I could see with Curtis lasting till the finale is due to him and Clay having some sort of mini-feud with each other since both of them either trash talk or try to sneak attack each other. Of the three, Bateman was more of the comedic wrestler and didn't have anyone to feud with besides Del Rio most of the time.

Bateman also ended up getting DQed a lot during the competitions the last few weeks than others so he sort of hurt his chance of being a lock for the finale. The immunity challenges ended up changing the structure of eliminations for NXT.
