I didnt really pay attention to the challenges until i'd finished the bulk of the game,even going back to an older saved game means i've gotta re-do 80% of them so fuck that.

I did several of them early, just in case like, the gang specific ones disappeared at some point, so I was safe. I ended up needing mascots and those mini cars and grinding both.

Got some of them easy simply because I usually drive on the wrong side of the road, for example.

But yeah, if I had to go back and do most of the challenges, I would totally be all "fuck that shit."

Think the two achievments i have left from the main game are both linked to challenges,probably going to cave in and restart a saved game before having a tantrum after an hour.

All in all, I'm disappointed in this game. It is still fun, mind you, but I was expecting a lot more. Steelport has more detail and better visuals than stillwater, but it has a loooong way to go before it feels like a living breathing city, ala GTA and RDR.

There is also a lot less variety in the enviornment in this installment. Not very many things stand out, unlike SR2.

That and all the things they took out have left me bored of the game pretty quick. Though to be fair, that has a lot to do with the influx of amazing games we've gotten lately.

Hopefully SR4 will be the definitive title in the series.

I wouldn't mind them going the CRAZAY route as long as they fleshed everything out more. I'm glad they revamped the respect part so you could just get on with the story but the activities that were left ended up kinda bland after a while. Doesn't feel nearly as shallow as Fable3 did but there was so much potential to be a better game than it was.

The problem is, they substituted depth for CRAZAY. And they promised more CRAZAY for the next title before this one even launched.

Realistically, I think this means more CRAZAAAAAY!!!!, less substance.

It just comes across as a THQ thing,they'll address everyones complaints and add them to the next game and tout them as new features on the back of the box. Even with the lack of depth i'm 45hours in,i'm pretty much only playing it still for the last couple of achievments,but as much as i really want to love it because problems aside it is a good game,theres just no replay factor IMO after its completed which is a pity.

I don't think they can address everyone's complaints this time. Most of the complaints come in the form of customisation and activity. The former can't be readily remedied without both a hit to the graphics and a hit to their model of selling us DLC packs. It's one of the reasons Saints Row 2 looked dated from the get-go and that hurt sales. I don't think this gun is going to be un-fired. And the latter still goes to DLC.

Plus, I doubt the length issue is going to be resolved.

I mean, seriously, why spend time and effort to expand a game when you can sell DLC?

I doubt they're really going under considering how unsubstantial the rumours are. Unless something's solidified in the last couple days.

Anyway, I don't know the status of the property, but I'd love to see SR go somewhere else in the wake of THQ's demise. I'm almost certainly not buying the fourth.

Caved in and got the new Gangsta's in space DLC,same as the 1st one really,better getting it before you've maxed out your upgrades etc or if you're starting the game over. Took around an hour to complete.

Once you finish it the message tells you to reload a saved game to replay any missions but with your collectables/kill counts etc for achievments intact.

Next DLC pack which arrives tomorrow is called the Bloodsuckers pack and basically changes your character into a vampire. It does include some extra benefits like the ability to earn $2,500 per in-game hour.

Also confirmed to be just an unlock key since its on the disc like most of the DLC packs for the game.

Yeah, it's true unfortunately. As far as I know, there's no way to tell how much to the penny companies spend on each aspect of developing a game. So companies can say, "Oh, well the on-disc DLC was made after our deadlines, and therefore cost more to put in the game, so we have to charge for it", but consumers would have no idea if this was true or not, so it's obviously something that can easily be taken advantage of.

95% of people who bitch about it, end up buying whatever they're complaining about in the first place, so that certainly doesn't help the situation.

As for this game, I'm not even halfway through, and I don't see myself going back to it any time soon. Just too many better games coming out as of late. Hell, I was only halfway through Arkham City before Skyrim and then Sould Calibur came out. And now Street Fighter x Tekken is dropping in a week, so Saint's Row is going pretty deep into the back log. New one might come out before I ever get around to finishing this.

Unfortunately, the notion of going overbudget to fit the game content on the disc and then locking it is kinda ridiculous. Especially when you can have day 1 DLC outside your core budget after the disc has gone to print.

But yes, the problem is a lot of the people who are saying they're going to boycott won't. Like Mass Effect 3. I bet I'll see like a dozen or two playing the game day one on Live.

Can't really blame you. Though only one of those games really interests me, but this game (while still fun) is kind of third tier. If I had anything else I cared about last November, I wouldn't have finished it. And as is, I still haven't gone back to complete takeover of the city or anything.

Yeah, I supported this game based on how much I loved 1 and 2, but the city feels less vibrant and and too much stuff I liked got pulled for shit like the shark shotgun and other assorted "fun for an hour, no real replay value" gimmicks to this shit. I was dead set on 100%ing this game, and I could probably do it in a day, but the interest just isn't there. Way too many superior games came out at the same time or are on the way right now. At some point I'll spent a lazy Sunday finishing this, but it'll be more of a chore than enjoyment. This game should have been $40 instead of $60. Even the collector's edition headset my friend has is fucked. It's a standard headset with autotune built in so he can't even use it on xbox live because they have those little non-standard connectors on the 360 controller.

Yeah, if it were a high end headset I could see it being used by djs or something (if you don't mind wearing plastic gems all all over your headset). But this is like a $15 voip headset. No thought put in at all.

New DLC, trouble with clones,takes less than an hour to complete, again probably better if your starting the game from scratch rather than as way to extend it. And you have to reload a saved game to replay it,although i'm missing one achievment from my 1st play through which i could have gotten then too had i realised.
