Not only are the guys in the "competition" ALREADY more or less under contract with the company via FCW, but that it seemed that this guy was already given the keys to the kingdom before the first episode was even in the can. It's not so much the "GASP! IT'S SCRIPTED?!" reaction, it's the fact that Tough Enough, like NXT, the whole production is a total angle from start to finish designed to do the work that vignettes for debuting wrestlers used to. (Example, NXT 1 was merely a tool to set up all those guys for the Nexus angle... didn't truly matter that Barrett "won", they all got called up anyway.) A far cry from the original show.
