I've had this for nearly a week now and I'm still pretty terrible at it. Kang's wall juggle is fucking annoying. Managed to score a few wins with Cage & Reptile though somehow

its a more consistent game than ssf4.... Theres no random comeback factor that makes it so a scrub can come from nowhere to beat a good player. Like ssf4 has the retarded revenge meter when they are getting their ass kicked. so dumb.

x rays dont do near the damage to character that the ultra meters do which means the match has to be pretty close if your going to randomly win with it AND the xrays are easy to avoid or block

Ultras are also easy to avoid or block. X-Rays inflect a significant amount of damage within the game. Ultra inputs and timing are a hair more complicated than that of X-Rays.

X Rays are easier to hit-confirm than Ultras, many of which require strict timing or Focus Attack cancels - which is why people just random out an Ultra and it seems like that's what they're for. Outside of combos and counter-hits, Ultras are obvious and easy to bait. Not to mention their extreme recovery. Miss an Ultra and karma says you'll eat one the next instant.

X Rays aren't designed to be comeback moves anyway, they're more in the vein of supers. Ultra meter can only be used for Ultra Moves of various strengths. X Ray Meter has three uses. So the comparison is moot really; X Ray's are no more comeback moves than Super moves are, and in that sense anything store-able can be a comeback move.

I've eaten my fair share of Ultras, in combos or random'd - you name it. I've landed Ultras, in combos or random'd as well. Did they save my ass, sure. Did they cost me dearly, yes. It's all in the use. I will agree that they're designed for comeback potential to keep matches interesting and flashy, but they aren't this easy mode win-button you're making it sound like. There's strategy there.

And... you are putting that against an armored attack activated by pulling the triggers together? We really shouldn't make skill based judgments on it and keep the discussion mechanical/conceptual. MK, despite having its most legit game in years, is still cartoon logic fighting.

lol good joke... xrays are only armored enough to get through a projectile if the xray was timed right and done close enough.

Whats really funny is that you are implying that the xray lacks strategy when all the characters have xrays that start in different ways... such as johnny cage's being a parry, csz has to start in the air, sektors needs a projectile to hit, cyrax's is anti air, sonya's is a rush down etc. so yes theres no strategy in having to set up an opponent for one compared to the ultra meter where its the same across the board in terms of where you pull it off.

To be fair, MvC 3 sales dropped badly once people found out how "incomplete" the game felt once the DLC plans of extra modes and characters were announced.

Street Fighter IV is also interesting in how each new addition is selling about 50% than the previous one because SFIV sold about 3 million combined, SSFIV sold 50% less, and SSFIV AE is on pace to barely reach 50% of Super's sales.

Although good news for Mortal Kombat because it proved people still like MK and all they wanted was the series to fix the stiff and stale parts.

What do you want? I could mention Ultras also have different uses (Cammy's CQC, Abel's Breathless, Bison's infamous U2), or takes more skill to use properly (FA absorption to build Ultra without losing life, tricky hit-confirm combos, general gambling in a clutch), but it's really hard to sit here and go through the motions with somebody who doesn't seem to be familiar with Ultras. And at worst, seems predisposed toward MK in general. So why 'do the dance'? That's why I left it at asking if you actually played the game, your comments on Ultras are erroneous memes. "Rewards losing." "Scrubs beat better players." "Too random." Etc.

I've put in some time with Mortal Kombat lately with Khuntry and some others, just enjoying the 4plyr tag mode. I like the game. I watch those vids you post and read up on how things work in it. I try to learn more about it so I can talk about it at least on this level (not an expert or anything). Can you please do the same with SF4?
