SO basically they took the Northeast Division, added Florida and Tampa, and called it a conference.

If 4 teams make the playoffs per year, Gotta like toe Sabres odds. I like Philly, NY, NY, NJ, Phil and Wash. THAT is nice.

We will see. I refuse to let them say Conference ABCD

Philly, NJ, and/or the NY teams would make more sense travel wise for the Northeast + Florida conference but supposedly Pitt had the biggest issues with realignment if it meant they lost out on their in-state rivalry with Philly.

People on ESPN's comment board wondered why the NHL didn't take advantage of the Boston-New York rivalry in sports but it never really developed as a rivalry in hockey unlike in baseball and football. Bruins have the Canadian teams as stronger historic rivals than the Rangers.
