Probably going to get worse for a while due to Sony recently sending out a response where instead of them accepting the faults, they somewhat hinted it was the customer's fault and not their or the Vita's fault.

"We here at Sony have taken in the consoles by affected customers to check whether we could recreate the described symptoms every time; however, we were able to confirm numerous times that with the proper handling, these issues can be avoided."

The "proper handling" was them saying the 2 and 5 second method always works while the device can only be charged by the USB port and not the AC adapter.
