I don't see Red Read Redemption as a real sequel, more of a stand-alone game from the same licence, kind of how every Star Wars game churned out isn't a sequel to every other Star Wars game.

Anyways, I'd love to see another Red Dead game, there's so many rich story lines to be borrowed from old westerns, they just need a new protagonist.

Though the term "spiritual successor" is douchey enough for you, it's largely dicing hairs in the same sense that one might argue a compact disc isn't really a compact disc, it's a digital information distribution device. It doesn't hurt that it's only relatively recently these titles have stopped being referred to as "spiritual sequels" and only then to differentiate between different types of sequels.

When exactly did they stop being referred to as spiritual successors? Do you have any proof to back that up or anything?

Douchey or not, it's a pretty widely accepted term as far as I'm aware, especially when the creators of those games use it to describe them and all. It's not splitting hairs in the least. A spiritual successor is as different to a sequel as a prequel, really.

Either way, even if RDR *is* a "real" sequel, my point still stands about you resorting to calling someone a retard just because they may not have been aware of it.

I say 1.5 sequels because Radical Dreamers was not really a game, per se. Chrono Cross still gets full credit though and is a very underrated game.

It had "Icon" as its sequel but it used a different engine, I would like them to make a 4th installment in the series using the AKI engine.

Not really the same since it had two games, but the Shenmue series. Would have loved to have seen the story finish with a few more games. Loved those games so much.

Adventure-Yeah there is a homebrew Adventure II. But I would loved a real sequel
Airworld-The never finished last part of the Swordquest series

8-bit era

Crystalis-Fuck Zelda this is the best action-rpg on the NES.Hell I would be happy with an updated version.
Whoop'em-Super fun Jaleco game. That seems to be forgotten.
Pro Wrestling-Surprised we never got a sequel on the SNES.

16 bit era
Haunting starring Polterguy-Super fun super unique game that it seems I am the only person that remembers it.
Mutant League Football-With all the money EA makes each year off the shitty Madden games they could give us a sequel to the best football video game ever.

Post 16 bit era

Eternal Darkness-One of the few Gamecube exclusive games worth getting.
SNK VS Capcom Card fighter-No other DS games has gotten as much play as this one.

Polterguy was outstanding. I rented it for 7 days from Red Giraffe (RIP) and beat it.

Mutant League Football was great too, but I liked Pigskin Footbrawl with the wanna be Lost Vikings.

Also wish General Chaos had a sequel, or a similar game at least. Loved the shit out of some General Chaos.
