I'm starting to shit on people in this now. A combo of getting to know the maps, getting my tactics right for each class (becoming a demon with Support, with either C4 or mortar depending on the occasion) and finally getting the 'aim down sight' habit from CoD out of my system. I always played with the quick ADS perk in CoD and I was getting constantly outgunned in BF3 when going for the sights in close quarters. Hip-firing is pretty accurate even at medium range in this game.

Pretty good at sniping as well. 499m is my longest headshot, was a beauty on a runner too.

When is this patch coming, I am fucking tired of pricks on MAVs racking up kills for nothing. What ever made them think it was a good idea to make any contact with this thing instantly fatal?

Not sure when the patch is going live ECG, but it needs to hurry up and happen so I can get back into the fight.

The MAV thing is quite stupid and the person who thought it was a brilliant idea to let it be so powerful should be punched in the nose.

3 downloadable "expansion" packs were announced at GDC with the first arriving this June and the last one around the time the next Medal of Honor game arrives.

Now I'm no serious military FPS player usually, but now the patch has let me join servers without attempting to join 8 times I thought I'd give it more of a go.

Because its been out a while, the skill barrier to entry seems almost retardely high. Any tips? I think my main issue is getting through open space without a vehicle and some invisible sniper blasts me from another fucking country.

I don't know, I basically suffered through 2-3 weeks of being cannon fodder in this game. It wasn't even particularly enjoyable to play really, I was just persevering because of sheer bloody-mindedness. Like I said up above, I've gotten better recently by getting to know the maps, getting the aim-down-sight reflex from CoD out of my system and by becoming better at using different classes for different situations. I tend to use Support most when defending in Rush because the C4 can be used to take out troublesome vehicles very quickly and turn the tide of an entire game and then Assault for TDM/attacking in Rush so I can revive people and flush out enemies with my grenade launcher. Rarely use Engineer, unless some bastard in a chopper is destroying everyone and rarely use the Scout class as it's ridiculously overused. I may use it for defending in Rush on certain levels, but not if I see that too many people are doing the same thing.

I'm 30 odd kills away from a K/D of 1, which in my mind is a hurdle I'd like to get over and then start gradually pushing up. I was about 200 kills down for a very long time due to being slaughtered when I started out. Even though K/D is besides the point in this game, it feels better being able to survive for longer than 10 seconds and to be able to take people out on a regular basis. I won't prioritise it above everything obviously, which is why I'm eating away at that incrementally (maybe +5 kills up on average per game) but still finishing regularly in the top 5 of scores.

Sounds like I just need to set aside a weekend where I'm not doing anything and just play solidly to see if I notice any improvement instead of doing my usual ADD style of switching between this/Team Fortress 2/Super Monday Night Combat/Modern Warfare 3 and just confusing the styles in a huge mush.

I love keeping track of my stats on bf3stats.com. My K/D ratio is horrendous but I'm in the top 1% of everybody who plays in the game on 360 in terms of objectives per minute. I normally always get several plants/defuses per game in Rush. Approaching the top 1,000.

As you can see, for $40 you can skip past all that grinding and have everything you need ready to go. The PC and XB360 versions will likely see something similar soon. And here’s a link to the patch list on Dice’s blog!

Also going live is a service where you can rent servers, currently for PS3 only. “For $1.49 / $6.99 / $24.99 / $64.99, you can get your very own server for 1 / 7 / 30 / 90 days.” You pretty much have all the options native to ‘private games’ in other games, but Battlefield on consoles didn’t really feature that prominently. So good for you, I guess.

Paying to upgrade yourself is not new at all, and in fact has been a successful business model in other games. Being that you’d run into powered-up players regardless, I guess it makes no difference in the long haul how players got their swag. Skill is skill, and you can’t buy that. Personally I like the idea of choosing your destiny, so to speak. What worries me, but apparently not Dice, is whether or not this undercuts their game’s replayability. Grinding can be annoying, but many players like the idea of continual sessions being rewarded with new prizes. And I suppose the best place to do this is in a sandbox multiplayer game. I can imagine people not being too keen on buying your way to high levels in an RPG or adventure game.

Me and my buddy decided to buy all the unlocks in WWE 12, because we’re only interested in the multiplayer and having all options for it unlocked. I’m probably gonna nab the co-op weapons shortcut because I have no interest in Battlefield 3′s co-op mode. I wish more fighting games would offer the option to pay to unlock the usual suite of content (or is that already the case teehee).

In any case it’s not the end of the world, and the important thing is this:

Well I'm looking at two promotions (Legend of Korra and here), a thread (not a plug so much as a "hey I did this today"), and a general announcement in the 100,000 Thread. If you've seen the blog, you'd see it has a lot of posts not ever mentioned here. Not too mention I quoted the whole Battlefield post in case nobody cared to actually click the link, a consideration that went over your head. I didn't quote the Korra review because it was long and pretty much the sort of thing people don't want me to post here (The Kalyx Wallotext).

Considering I have already unlocked all the weapons, aside from the last mission related on on Karkand, I'll pass on this. The only thing I really need to upgrade is my jet and helicopter stuff and even then, I barely fly in this game.

The recent DLC maps are pretty good. More destructable and such. VTOL jets are pretty weird, though.

Still fairly annoyed by the lack of communication in this. You'd think a squad based game would have more people using mics, but since I've owned this (bought it a couple weeks after launch) I've played one game where other people were talking. And of course with my luck, they were speaking french.

Other nuisance is squad leaders who don't set objectives. People don't realize the boost it gives you. Last match I played, I went 5-7 but I finished first with over 4000 points, because I was setting objectives all match. I also captured a few flags, but still, getting 20 or 40 points every 30 seconds adds up.

The shortcuts EA are selling do not unlock the attachments for the unlocked weapons, so players who don't wanna grind too much will still have to grind to get the little toys that compliment their chosen weapon. This is actually a fairly balanced way to do this, though they should probably be more clear about it.

Not actually too bad on Conquest mode now. Mainly because I'm interested in capping the flags rather than most of the players who just seem to want kills kills kills. Having a lot more fun now I'm dying less, even if I do suck the odd time I get in a jet.
