I think like a lot of people they're probably a bit miffed that Spain picked easily the worst striker they have in the squad on the day they actually decided to play with a proper forward. Llorente must have defiled del Bosque's daughter.

They left Soldado at home as well, who is also a much better player than Negredo.

It's been great. Best Summer tournament in years. First one I've thoroughly enjoyed since World Cup 2002 or Euro 2004. Not a single 0-0 in the group games which is almost unheard of. Not that a game needs goals to be good but that tends to be what most people go by.

Yeah, the tournament as a whole has been greatness this year. The only truly disappointing match for me thus far was England/Italy in the quarters.

I thought that was a good game. Watching Pirlo get space to torment a side is one of the best things is football.

Only games I've been really disappointed by are any of those involving France. They just didn't show up at all.

Nah De Rossi and Pirlo together in the centre of midfield is kryptonite to everybody that faces them. Balotelli's finished his chances well though, although it will be hilarious if he gets a second yellow and misses the final because of him removing his shirt.

Balotelli has certainly grown into the tournament anyway. He was largely frustrating during the group, started slowly vs England but ultimately was superb against them in a really mature display, then capped it all tonight with a wonderful performance. He's Drogba-like when he wants to be in terms of his pace, power, touch, intelligent running and aerial ability. He added the explosive finishing tonight as well.

Wasn't expecting Spain to dominate that badly in terms of scoring considering they were averaging barely over 1 goal a game since the World Cup (not counting the 4-0 vs Ireland).

Also the way Spain's style works, once they score its almost impossible to come back which is why they have a ton of 1-0 games and the "boring" tag. I think Italy in Group Stage were the only ones to have scored first against Spain since the World Cup and even that game ended in a tie.

I'm not sure if the whole "boring" thing is actually a worldwide opinion (Smelly Meatball, Ossman or Supreme, is it something you'd hear in America?) or if it's something that's been brandished by the media here in the UK because you're not a good footballer unless you run around like a headless chicken and throw yourself in to block any oncoming shots and appear to be playing with all your heart. A simple passing game is massively overlooked in England and is a reason why many good players are overlooked.

I can use Lucas as an example for Liverpool who would absolutely flourish in a Spain or Barcelona team and not our setup for the past couple of years. Jordan Henderson too is pretty much considered to be a dreadful player right across this country, when really he's a very tidy player (when played centrally and not out wide) who keeps play ticking over in a pretty similar manner to many of Spain's players. I'm not saying he's anywhere near that level btw, he's just of a similar ilk. And I'm sure there are players like that for every club that are overlooked simply because they're not blasting in 30 yard screamers and lunging into tackles that I'm also less aware of because I'm not watching every game for other clubs.
