Probably will since the Knicks lost out on Nash although you have to consider the Mavs are really going to push a lot harder to get Lin now that Kidd and Williams are both gone as options.
That is assuming Lin rejects the Rockets offer at the moment though or the Knicks match the offer. Last edited by Emperor Smeat; 07-05-2012 at 09:48 PM. |

Yeah. I think the biggest reason they went Kidd instead of Felton is to have someone to mentor Lin.
Apparently Lin and the Rockets agreed to a 3 year/$19.5M offer sheet with a team option worth 9.3M for the 4th year. So the Knicks have 3 days to match after July 11th. There is no way the Knicks don't match that now. Glad that it didn't get crazier than this though. People were saying teams were gonna offer him close to $40M. |

Owenbrown, you're on one for sure. There is parity in the NFL because there is a single elimination playoff. New Orleans, New York, Indianapolis, New England, Green Bay, Denver, St. Louis, and even fucking Pittsburgh have all won championships during that timespan. Yes, Denver, New England, New York and Pittsburgh have won multiple Titles, but of this group New England and New York are the only big market teams. There is parity in the NFL. There may or may not be parity in baseball, I dunno (who can watch that game for six months? 132 games? fuck that). The NBA is going to have teams win multiple titles in runs...best of 7 series is designed for the better overall team to win. Less upsets brah.

owenbrown kinda has a point. Not that it's fixed or anything but with the same team consistently in the finals. In general the NBA is easily the most predictable of the 4 major North American sports. It's about a year from the Finals and you can already narrow it down to about 5-6 teams that may have a realistic shot at winning. Even that might be generous. As opposed to other sports where there are like 15+ contenders heading in.
It's just hard to get excited for a season when you know that the most you can hope for is to get out of the first round of the playoffs. |

Also I'm glad the Knicks didn't give Lin that big of a contract. It's just way too much money for too small a sample size.
lol @ everybody who spent big bucks on authentic Lin jerseys though. Too risky to get a jersey for a flash in the pan guy. |

They're idiots if they match that offer. Too much. Would be a great move for Lin though since he'll make a shitload in endorsements.

NBA probably is partially fixed or at least the lottery has to be while Stern has said a lot of times he favors a superstar driven league than team based. Just so happens majority of those superstars only want to play for big market or attractive cities. Spurs are the only team to have won the title without having stars arrive in droves, be an established big market, or be an attractive place to play in recent decades. Yeup took the less money and overall playing time just to have the best chance at a ring. Also gave up having a no-trade clause which he was offered by the Cs so if the Heat don't win next year, they can just dump him.
Big rumor that came out of nowhere and might have hinted at Ray leaving involved Ray Allen not getting along with Rondo recently. Only good side for the Cs is now they have an extra $6+ million to commit to other free agents. Nevermind, just found out they don't since Allen was under the "Bird's Rights", all they have left is in the $2 million range just like Miami has left. |

Yeah, there really is no chance they don't match that contract. And they should. With Melo-Amare-Chandler and the rest of the guys they have under contract they aren't far away from the cap. So its not like if they don't sign him they have that money to spend elsewhere.
Lin will make a lot of money for the Knicks even when he isn't as great as he was last year during that stretch. One thing I like is that the whole Knicks team is basically signed for 3 years now. Gives them 3 years to do something with this team and if it isn't working they will have a clean slate. |

What's Dwight going to do now? If the Magic don't trade him to the Nets, they won't have the cap room to sign him in the offseason. Dallas was his second pick. They missed out on Williams and they pretty much had everyone except Dirk jump ship. I don't know how attractive that situation looks now.
He might as well take a trade to L.A. and go for a championship with Nash and Kobe. Bynum's a little bit better offensively, but Dwight's a more consistent defender, which the Lakers need. Plus, Bynum checks out from time to time and I'm not sure Mike Brown can reel him in. |

Its most likely between the Nets and Lakers even though ESPN is saying the Rockets, Hawks, and Mavs are also involved. Celtics seemed to be rumored on and off for Dwight but nothing serious after Dwight resigned for the short term.
Nets biggest problem is money (cap and salary) while the Lakers biggest problem is draft picks considering how few they have left for the next couple of years. Nets have no chance once Dwight hits free agency though which is why their current offer is 3 draft picks (all 1st rounders) and 3 decent to good players. |

He helped the Celtics win a Title after more than a decade without winning one, if he wants to leave, let him leave. He went to Boston and did what he was expected to do, help the team win.
Also, why would players be loyal to teams? Teams will never take "loyalty" into consideration and will trade and/or release guys without much thought. So why should a player stick around and be "loyal" when teams have the "what have you done for me lately" mentality? If a player is offered more money elsewhere, or they just want a change of scenery, good for them. |

Making a quick "Scott Roberts Exclusive" bold prediction.
Jeremy Lin will resign with the Knicks in order to be mentored by Jason Kidd. The Knicks will make too much money on Lin to not resign him. |

pretty sure i heard that a couple years back when they had a sub-par season, then proceeded to make an incredible run in the playoffs. Just because they've aged doesnt mean theyre not a threat to win everytime they play.

Celtics join the growing list of teams who want Houston's Courtney Lee but similar to the Bulls, it has to be a sign-and-trade deal but the Rockets don't mind. They also don't mind if the same is done to Marcus Camby since the team stated they don't want either player returning next year.
Minnesota, Indy, Atlanta, Dallas, and Phoenix also are interested in Lee while Miami and New York prefer Camby. Current trade rumor from Yahoo involving the Magic and Lakers would send Dwight and Turkoglu while the Magic would get Ron Artest and Bynum. The big catch is the trade wouldn't involve either Dwight or Bynum getting an extension which means they could leave after the next year. A few places are rumoring Bynum wouldn't consider returning to LA after the season if he's traded to begin with. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1...hout-extension |

So he could still win a ring with the Celtics, yet he decided to go to Miami, where he can also win a ring. Ok. Let's face it, anyone who says "I lost respect for him" is a Boston fan. He did nothing wrong. He went to Boston and helped the team win a title. Fuck him for wanting a change of scenery and environment. |
