Saw this today. Even with the row behind me filled with constantly talking, crying, whining children, and a couple a few seats away who were possibly giving each other handjobs; nothing would have been enough to stop me from fully enjoying this movie.
Garfield is fantastic as Spider-Man/Peter Parker. Emma Stone is amazing as always, and the action sequences could not have been any better. I never thought I would buy The Lizard as a live action villain, but Rhys Ifans pulled it off and had me sold. I can't wait to see more from Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield. I hope that Spider-Man becomes Marc Webb's thing. I was disappointed with the death at the end of the movie as I really loved that character and saw potential for more between him and our protagonist, but so be it. With how awesome The Lizard looked, I can't help but wonder if they will decide to revisit Venom and the symbiote in the future and do it RIGHT with a Hulk-like Venom and maybe even Carnage. That story is such a huge part of Spider-Man's story that I can't see them not revisiting it, and without the bullshit camp that we got from Sam Raimi, it could be really good. Either way, I loved it. An amazing appetizer which quelled my hunger as I await July 20th. |
