i mean if we're talking scenery here. Like i said, i just felt like he was a competitor. To leave a team where you were a key player, a starter, and had just as much an opportunity to win a championship seems like a cop out.

Get outta here. It's not like he pulled a "Gary Payton" or a "Karl Malone" and signed with a winning team because he couldn't win a Championship with the team he was playing for. Hell, it's not even like he pulled a "LeBron" and left the team that drafted him in order to go to another team and try to win a Title there. You're a Laker fan, I get it. You don't want the Heat to sign good players that may help them repeat as Champions, I get it. But don't come out and say that because Allen was a starter and key player in Boston, him leaving makes you lose respect for him. |

I agree on all those examples. Just seems like saying youre gonna take less money to play for your rival team and win a championship is a weak thing. I dunno, guess im just old school in that thought process.

He owed nothing to the Celtics. If he resigned and missed a step or two, or became expandable, Boston would've traded him without much thought, and without taking into consideration that he helped them win a Title, that he was a starter, or that he was a key player. They would've kicked him out the door as we've seen so many other teams do in all sports.
So good for him. |

Gonna make a "Scott Roberts Guarantee" here and say that at some point this season Ray Allen will make a three point shot for the Miami Heat against the Boston Celtics

I think every team should just merge into 1 "superteam" against the Heat and just play each other all year.
Granted then it'd be like watching the Harlem Globetrotters play the Generals and that gets old fast. |

I still don't think the Heat are invincible or will come close to doing what the Bulls did in the 90s. If the Cavs do help the Nets land Howard, I think Miami would have a hard time matching up with them.
Can't count Boston out either. They added Jason Terry and Jared Sullinger was predicted to go top 5 before those issues about his back came up. I think the only reason he dropped as far down as he did was because no doctor wanted to sign off on the next Greg Oden. |

TBH I was happy the Heat won the Championship, but I didn't walk away from the Finals thinking "The Heat were definitely the best team". Actually, I can't shake off the perception that they "squeaked one out" and that OKC was the best team of the two.
So Miami definitely has to make some changes, and adding Ray Allen was a very good start. I mean, the "big three" is now a "big four". That's not too shabby. |

Don't think Ray Allen is going to have the same level of status he had with Boston to make Miami have a Big 4. Only reason Boston had the nicknames of the Big 3 plus Rondo or the Big 4 was because all of them were on the court at the same time and in critical situations. Ray Allen is basically going to be like Mike Miller and nobody gave him any "Big" status. |

Plus Allen's defense will be a liability so he might not even be in there in the final minutes of a close game..maybe for offense only after a timeout. But Miami will keep attracting those vets as long as Lebron is there giving them a chance.
I hope the Nets land Howard because as of right now besides Boston, nobody will beat the Heat |

Maimi Heat signed a player. The player was Ray Allen, who played for the Celtics. He fulfilled his contract, HE WON THEM A TITLE, he has done all he set out to do with them and he was sick of the petulent Rajon Rondo. He took his talents to South Beach. He didn't go to the Lakers (bostons TRUE Rival), or New York. He went to the third most hated team in Boston Celtic Lore. Please get over it guys and get ready to shine The Heat's new rings for next year

Magic might pull out of the Howard-Bynum trade deal if Bynum refuses to sign an extension with the Lakers to create the sign-and-trade deal. If that falls, Rockets already set to make a trade offer for Howard.
Even though Bynum hinted he wouldn't return to the Lakers if traded, the Magic do not want to be stuck with a 1-year rental while the Lakers get Howard for basically "nothing" especially if Bynum were to reconsider and go back to them after a season. |

yeah, me neither but they gave the guy a lot of shit for leaving his team as a free agent.
He wanted to put himself in the best position to win a title, and his old team wasn't winning anything anytime soon. |

All that is left is for Nash to cut an in-court promo in Phoenix trashing the Suns and he'd become Hollywood Nash.

So now we know how he makes so many passes and assists.
It's all because if his eyes! He looks to both sides of the court without turning his head! |

I think his problem is more of his relationship with the Magic management and less about him as a player or anything he does off the court. Orlando really did fuck up a lot of things around him and Otis Smith should have been fired for that Gilbert Arenas debacle alone. It also doesn't help when you have executive drunk dialing dude in the middle of the night. Also, Van Gundy not getting along with players isn't really anything new. There's a reason why Miami let him go and it wasnt just because Pat Riley was itching to coach again.
A't the same time, Dwight put Orlando in a bad spot by announcing in December that he wanted to be traded and publicly naming the teams. He screwed himself worse when he opted into his final year. No sympathy for either side really. At this point, I think the Lakers or the Hawks have the inside track to get him and I'm leaning towards the Hawks. The Lakers were one of the four teams on his original shortlist and now that he knows he has no chance in hell of playing for Brooklyn, I don't see why Dwight would have a problem going to a team he originally wanted to go to and playing with Kobe and Nash, who still probably have at least two seasons of great play in them. If Dwight is concerned about his legacy and wants to go to a team where he will go down as the greatest player in franchise history, Atlanta makes sense. Plus, Horford is an all star who played for the Gators and Teague is a better PG than Nelson. Dwight's from Atlanta, is best friends with Josh Smith and the Hawks will have money and have enough attractive pieces at guard to get Chris Paul in a mid season sign and trade if he makes it known to the Clippers that he wants out or they can just get him as a FA. |

Yknow, I dont even want the dude in LA anymore. At first, when he showed interest and hid his immaturity well, sure...who the hell wouldnt want him on the squad. But for me, it was always about getting a solid C who just wanted to win.
The way Dwight has gone about this whole thing, from day one...it wouldnt be any better than the immature center the Lakers already have. The Lakers FO should just pull out of the D12 run, and build us a bench with what we can. The starting 5 (with the Nash upgrade) will compete, its the bench that tends to cause issues. |
