Chris Benoit vs. Edge at Summer Slam

The current Chris Benoit/Edge angle could lead to them facing each other in the main event of Summerslam in August. Of course, as with anything, this plan could change if Triple H decides he wants to headline the show against Chris Benoit.

On a side note.
Former WWE wrestler Dick Slater was sentenced to a year of house arrest and two years probation for stabbing his girlfriend last year. He also had to pay $1800 in court costs.

Stephanie Mcmahon is a writer, HHH is married to Stephanie Mcmahon..two things are a certanty
1. HHH will never work for another wrestling company
2. HHH will have influence on the storyline that involves him (creative control)

Actually I've been watching wrestling since 1990. I know what goes on backstage, but I can't believe it's that easy to just change the storylines.

Well, look what Hogan did to Bret Hart going into Wrestlemania 9. Hunter's got ten times the backstage pull that Hogan ever did. What would possibly keep him from giving the World Title match the old switcheroo in his favor (other than a riot or and act of God)?

Benoit facing Edge at Summerslam wouldn't draw. Benoit has enough trouble practically being quaranteed from the main event, and Edge is too bland and lacks the wrestling capability to match up with Benoit.

The only opponents I can see going against Benoit are Triple H and HBK because they're both way over with the fans and aren't shunned from the main event scene as you can already tell from the Bad Blood line-up. I'd really like to see an HBK heel turn in an attempt to reclaim the gold, and so the match can have plenty of hype. If that were to happen then I'd put Benoit over HBK so Benoit has that major win since he's never defeated HBK one on one.

Same goes for Triple H, of course the hype would be terrible but the match would draw huge. As for the result of that match I'd have either competetor go over. If Triple H regains the title it opens some doors for a second title run for Benoit later on down the road; if Benoit wins then he has a big win over Triple H one on one.

Having backstage pull doesn't mean shit when it comes to drawing a crowd. As you may recall, Triple H brought in the lowest ratings as Champion since the days of Sid and Diesel. Just because Hunter and Michaels take up the entire show doesn't mean people actually give a damn about them. I'm just happy they've even considered booking a World Title match without either one of those assholes.

On Raw this past week, when Edge and Benoit were talking about how neither could win the tag team match the week before, I thought the feud was definitely going to start. However, Edge came in to make the save for Benoit, so it seems like they've made peace for now. Soon enough, I think the feud will be established, and if they build it up well enough as a face vs. face, or turn Edge heel , it should be a pretty good match. They are both good quality wrestlers, and I believe that a cocky heel Edge would draw just fine. Seeing as how i'm going to be at Summerslam, I just hope that the main event is good, even if it doesn't involve either of these guys

There are a lot of casual fans and supermarks out there that love anything and everything about HBK and Triple H, even though us smarks know better.

As for the backstage pull statement...I've been up since 4 this morning so I can't think right.

Who cares about HHH..gimme edge and benoit any day.

Edge as a heel is pretty damn good, and these two are both better wresters then HHH..yes edge is a more talented wrestler.

Plus it'd be fresh..and oh yeah..summerslam is in Toronto, so who cares what it would draw..it's gonna draw a great crowd though.put HHH in it, and the canadian fans will be chanting bullshit throughout.

TO wants edge-benoit. HHH is a POS anyway.

I do get what you are saying, but then again, where were all these casual fans and supermarks when Hunter had the ratings in a death spiral? I'm not saying Edge/Benoit's a guaranteed draw, but bringing in new guys would make a lot more sense than relying on guys who are proven bombs when it comes to ratings.

It would look stupid if you had HBk or Edge as a heel with Evolution being heels.

I prefer HHH vs.Benoit over Edge vs.Benoit.Edge vs.Benoit is a Raw match not PPV main event material.If Edge vs.Benoit is at Summerslam,Smackdown will get the main event slot with Angle vs.Eddie.

Like it would happen, but if they DID book a Rock vs Orton match, (IC Title might not even have anything to do with this feud), that would draw ten times more than the proposed Benoit/Edge match. A Rock/Orton feud would have the "it" factor to draw interest. But then you know what that means....the People's Jobber falls flat on his face again

Still, The Rock vs anyone would be a bigger draw, simply because it'd have the Rock. But don't count on a feud with Orton to bring in the big bucks; I mean, Mick Foley came back and had his first matches in 4 years against Orton, and it didn't exactly set the world on fire. Rock has been on and off for the last three years, and while he brings in momentary ratings spikes, it doesn't last. If Rock/Hogan was a flop (and it was the second time around), then why would The Rock vs New Guy that Nobody Cares About be any different?

Don't get me wrong; I'm all for bringing new talent into the main event scene, but if they're looking for a huge money match, they're not going to find it with Randy Orton.

Im thinking Benoit will either lose te belt before or at Summer Slam. Id rather him lose it to Edge a man who hasnt had the title yet than HHH whom holds the belt at least twice a year. HHH needs to step it down for awhile feud with some mid carders and build up there credibility.

I think benoit/Edge would make a great World Heavyweight Championship face vs. face match at Summerslam. It's in Toronto, so the crowd is going to be torn, and then have Edge go full heel. Maybe a reallignment with Christian. The crowd in Toronto might still cheer Edge, but everywehre else he would be over huge as a heel.

Benoit should retain, but have Edge look like a credible threat.

I don't think that's such a good idea. Christian is finally coming into his own as of late, and sticking him with Edge again would just make him look like the lackey that he always seemed like before. I think people would pay more attention to Edge, for whatever reason, and Christian would be overshadowed. I think Christian is the more talented of the two, and an E & C reunion wouldn't be beneficial to eitiher man's career.

...but to see those two work their comedic gold again would rock the body that rocks the party.

So as unpopular as it sounds, I'd have to actually favor Benoit vs HHH. I also think that's what's going to happen.

Yeah, I kind of cringe at a Benoit/Edge main event, but I think the crowd could really get into.

As for the Edge/Christian hting I mentioned, I don't mean like a tag team, but for Edge to join his stable as another heel. I can see Edge feuding with Benoit, while Christian feuds with Matt Hardy or something.

Personally I would have HHH vs Benoit in a Speciality match like a 2 out of 3 falls match with different rules (FCA, Ladder, Submission) or in a Iron Man Match Heres what I would have the Summerslam Card
