Truth be told it is NOT a very good movie (the stage show is SOOOO much better, I should know) but there is a cult/campy feel about it that makes people want to talk about it and watch it. Much like a wrestler with the "it" factor. He may not be the best wrestler in the world but people are just drawn to it.

It doesn't help that RHPS was done as a movie to kind of capture in time the phenomenon that already existed.

"So bad it's good" is hard to capture in words, because it's a lot more subjective even than the normal determination of quality. It's easy to agree that a movie is good or bad, but at what point does a movie cross over into that realm where it's so terrible it's awesome to watch? Or for that matter, cheesey, since that works too.
