Yep, and Ryan saying Mark Sanchez provides them the best chance to win is the most unintentionally hilarious thing I've heard all week.

And if Tebow is so terrible that he can't get on the field over Mark Sanchez, imagine how bad their 3rd stringer Greg McElroy must be if they chose to keep him inactive when Tebow was apparently too hurt to play.

Bottom line: The Jets need to sign Vince Young and start him next week.

Tebow will be switching teams again this offseason. It's been the huge distraction that everybody knew it would the second the trade happened. If the Giants didn't win the Super Bowl, the Jets never would have entertained the idea of bringing in Tebow. It was a move to grab headlines and sell jerseys, nothing more.
I think the Jets may have to release Tebow outright, because I'm not sure any team would give up even a 7th round pick for him at this point. Even most of the teams with QB woes don't look like fits. The Browns aren't giving up on Weeden after 1 year and sinking a 1st round pick on him. The Cardinals and Chiefs will be going QB in the 1st round of the 2013 draft. The Jaguars are the default favorite just because it's Florida...he and Gabbert could compete for the job. But if Gabbert wins out, Tebow would be back in the same situation he's already in. And there's always the chance Chad Henne plays well enough to stick around as the starter, too. |

We're fast approaching flex scheduling season in the NFL. Cowboys/Eagles on SNF next week, but I can't see NBC pulling the plug on Dallas with the ratings they get - especially with them not being eliminated yet or anything.
Jets/Chargers in Week 16 is good as gone, though. CBS will probably protect Bengals/Steelers that week...whereas FOX can only protect one of Giants/Ravens, 49ers/Seahawks, or Saints/Cowboys...all which could potentially be meaningful. |

If the Giants lose to Green Bay, Dallas and Philly is definitely going on as planned with it potentially being for the lead in the NFC East. (lol)
Lions @ Packers in week 14 and 49ers @ Patriots in week 15 definitely stay. I'm gonna guess 49ers @ Seahawks for week 16 and depending on what the Giants do, Cowboys/Redskins to close out the season. Nothing really jumps out at me for week 17 even with all the division games. Maybe Colts/Texans if Indy has a playoff berth at stake. |

They're overvalued to you. But every team obviously assumes the guys they draft from round 1 to round 7 are going to be studs so the value is much different.

I guess they would say it's still reviewable since the review would not "benefit" Houston.

Every explanation I've heard has been that they can not "benefit" from a review after throwing a flag illegally.

I think a team needs to throw a flag after scoring a questionable touchdown in a blowout just to see what happens. That's the only way we'll get a true view of things.

Or atleast someone needs to ask someone in the fucking NFL what would happen in that situation which I have somehow not been able to find yet.

It'd probably be like the 10 second runoff rule. If an offense in the lead false starts in the 4th quarter, they don't do the automatic runoff. But if an offense that's losing false starts, they do the runoff.

But winning and losing doesn't matter there. The Lions were actually ahead when the TD was called. Obviously a review would benefit the defense so that was a situation where the benefit was clear. What if there was a questionable catch on a pick and a questionable spot all on the same play though? Part of the review benefits the defense and part benefits the offense. So one team throwing the flag negates the other teams ability to have the call corrected?

The system got messed up a bit once they added in auto-reviews and then after rules preventing the team without the ball to delay the next play to force a review to be done.
Even the boss of the review system says the current rules favor punishing anyone who creates a delay even if it was by accident than actually seeing if the call was correct. Quote:
It gets explained right at the end: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/86...challenge-rule |

Giving benefit to the other team by not reviewing the play is subjective though. I still haven't seen the official wording of the rule oddly enough too. Houston losing the TD and getting a 15 yard penalty wouldn't exactly be just since it still ignores the issue of whether the call was right or wrong.

Turnovers are also automatically reviewed. So what if on 4th down, a player intercepts the ball 30 yards down the field? Can the offense's coach throw a flag and prevent the review that would give the defensive team 30 yards?

NFL should just go to college rules for reviews. Barring a couple of instances of incompetent jackasses, it doesn't slow the game down much at all. Get the fucking call right is all that matters.

And they still didn't sell out. I live in a great football town! Woo! |
