The game has been virtually unplayable for me this evening. It's fucking dreadful. At times I'm being shot by people round corners before I can possibly even see them, then the replay shows me dawdling out in front of them like I don't have a care in the world. People are literally seeing a full second or two ahead of me in some games.

I wonder why they did away with the regional match-making anyway, I'm a bit fed up of being turfed into games with French/German/Spanish/Italians gibbering away on their mics. I would prefer to be matched up to people in the UK and Ireland. I like the little touch of opening up the mic of the person you just killed but it loses its effect with foreigners.

That's pretty dumb. Probably explains some of your extra lag in this game compared to the others too if they're less local.

This seemed to be the case on PS3 in the past. Playing Battlefield 1943 or Uncharted 2 online always had you in with the french.

Theoretically you'd expect a game to look for worldwide games and then pick the ones with the best lag, which logically would be close to you, but it could be that they're just ignoring that and throwing everyone into a Euromix.

I have a PSN account that's registered as US to get access to their store and I signed in to play Blops 1 on it once. Literally heard a "YEEEEHAAAWW" over the mic, so it seems they're going for region over lag and so want to lump all the eurosocialists together. There should be no shortage of local people to play with. Is their maybe a setting to prioritise connection speed? I know some games have that.

I have it set to best connection to try to get games where theoretically I should have the best ping rate possible (in BO1 this was "locale only"). I'm usually playing with a 15-18 Mb/s download rate and a 1.6 Mb/s upload rate and I generally have 4 full green bars in any matches going on and that should be more than enough to have a decent game. See the problem is that unlike MW2, when you knew being host would mean you'd murder everyone, in this it's actually the opposite and being host means it's going to be a battle. I think that the measures they've put in to balance out the ping speeds are basically broken so that invariably people with a worse connection actually do better and it's exacerbated by the bonkers match-making from all over Europe. In MW2 also the match search would tell you it was trawling through games under a certain ping speed. I don't know how this works. The worst part is, much of the time when the game is playable, I know it's probably factoring the other way and I'm being given an advantage over some of the other players. There's genuinely over a second of difference in what players are seeing on their screens and I refuse to believe it's down to my connection being too poor, so I would guess that this is down to a deliberate attempt to help people with shite connections.

I always thought the system from the Modern Warfare games worked great. I can only guess that Treyach have to come up with their own system, hence all the problems with Blops, especially on PS3, and now they've changed it so it's a completely new system. Your connection speed itself is far beyond mine, and knowing you can play other games then the fault would either be shit software or a poor selection of players, and with this being the biggest game in the world, etc, it's not the latter.

I read some stuff about players being matched on ping but I seem to end up playing a group of Germans or French 90% of the time so I don't know how this could be. Maybe it picks out one person in the lobby who is in Mongolia.

Hasn't stopped me playing it absolutely shitloads as its great when things are going ok. Although I don't believe the stuff about punishing players for stuff, I've backed out more than I've completed matches over this at times plus I back out in the innumerable times the match-making system drops me in some hopelessly lost team.

I've been very close to getting it but I had a couple of very busy weeks when it came out. I've been playing MW2 to keep my oar in, and I don't know if I would play it enough to take the plunge. Black Ops 1 was probably my favourite online play, although it had far more technical problems than the Modern Warfare games.

I prefer they bring back dedicated servers like in COD 2 rather than the lobby huzallo.

Absolutely wrecked shit last night, K/D went up by 0.11 from 1.34 to 1.45

Also noticed a flaw/glitch that enemies are made invulnerable by Shock Charges. I had one go off on a guy and it took three shotgun blasts before he dropped.

Anyone else have that happen?

Got the Domination capture calling card. Been averaging around 4-7 captures a game. Still losing games because of ass teamates though.

If you've got A and B captured, your best bet is to just hold fast and defend them. But people try and get C, and when they do,it throws the enemy spawn all over the place, and makes it easier for them to take B, which is the key point of the game.

I'm highly guilty of that but only if I'm on a team I trust and can handle holding down all flags. It shoots me right to the top of our team. I remember two things playing Domination with Alvarado, one time I was the top scorer with 0 kills and god knows how many caps and then another time our team won 200-4.

Sucking ass at this so far in multiplayer (PC). I was awesome at MW3 but can't seem to get the hang of it now even though it feels like the same exact game. Saw a blatant wall hacker yesterday, he finished a round like 35-1.
