Punk going in as the challenger at a Mania triple threat would just make him look so inferior. In order for the triple threat scenario working at all, Punk needed to stand out as the 500+ day defending champion against the two mega stars.

I disagree. I think 7 weeks is more than enough to build him right. It's not like he looked inferior in the two showings with Rock, or, if Cena has ever beaten him at ALL. Compared to both, he's easily a viable competitor.

Big Show vs Alberto Del Rio – Great match even with the botched finish. 8/10.

Miz vs Cesaro – boring tv style match with a lame finish. 4/10

Elimination Chamber WHC Match – amazing match. Had no idea how it would end up. 10/10

Sheamus/Cena/Ryback vs Shield – The fact that Shield won and dominated most of the match and the fact that a 3/3 match following that Elim. Chamber match was equally fun. 9/10.

Kofi vs Dolph – Impromtu PPV matches piss me off. Especially a mid carder who hasn’t done shit. Obviously this is the “diva/cooler” match to give the crowd a rest before Rocky/Punk but man. 3/10

Kaitlyn vs Tamina – Skipped this with the power of download. UNRATED

Punk vs Rock II – Mediocre match with the outcome not pleasing. 6/10

Overall a good PPV

Just got done watching the show (almost, still gotta watch Dolph-Kofi and the diva's match but I'll get around to that later.) Awesome Chamber Match. Rock-Punk was fun and I liked this one more than the last. The Shield looked fucking great tonight. As did Mark Henry. And Jack Swagger. I'm really hoping Team Hell No doesn't face each other at WM, and if they do I hope they lose the belts before then so it gives the chances for a cluster fuck tag title ladder match.

Probably not. I marked out when Shield got the pin so I can't say for sure but I will say that the match as a whole was solid and followed the Chamber very solidly.

I don't view these controversial finishes as a way to keep Punk in the Mania title picture. Instead I see it as a way to not job him out clean just weeks before a showdown with the undefeated Undertaker.

Punk looks like much more of a threat to the streak by having The Rock pinned clean with the ref out and then losing, rather than getting beat in the ring without a screwy finish. I'm pretty sure it was a way to keep Punk's credibility at a peak to believably clash with Taker, and not to insert him in the WWE title match.

It seems like just a way to not job him out clean period. Taker or not, Punk needed to keep looking somewhat strong.

I don't think they're going triple threat though. I wouldn't wanna see it anyway. Rock vs Cena one on one is the way to go. If Taker can't compete, I'm not sure where that would put Punk. Punk vs HHH with Punk blaming the company for his problems would be pretty awesome. That would leave Lesnar out though as I don't know who else would realistically challenge him at this point.

Really, I'm less worried about that one loss as I am about WWE's tendency to get into the habit of having top faces lose on a regular basis for "shock factor" until it simply doesn't matter anymore. It ruins characters and it's a big reason why they haven't been able to really put guys over long term and they'd avoided it with Ryback. Hopefully they haven't opened the flood gates now.

I liked that Ryback got pinned, and the way he was pinned. This Shield story has been building since November, and each month, he's getting closer and closer to finally overcoming them. If Sheamus was pinned, Ryback's inevitable Wrestlemania victory wouldn't have that same payoff unless he was the one who failed at EC.

Like I said in the first post I made about it, I'm hoping this is leading to Ryback single handedly taking down The Shield at WrestleMania. Somehow. I don't wanna see another 6 man tag featuring Ryback and two guys against The Shield though. I'd rather the focus be strictly on Ryback and The Shield.

A gauntlet match would be pretty sweet with Ryback coming out looking like a million bucks after finally taking them out.
