yeah, spring training. The fact you know that from the opponents seems like a super magical magic trick to me but I'm guessing there's a simple enough explanation for that

There is. They play in two separate "leagues." The two leagues only cross over during spring training, a couple weeks of mid season interleague games, and the World Series. So, if your first game was between an American League team (Oakland) and a National League team (Cubs), it must have been a ST game.
