It depends how big the desert area is. There IS desert because we've seen it in screens/trailers but, so far, it's just been sand as far as you can see.

Easter Eggs are likely, I'd say. If they can find a way to put a RDR easter egg into LA Noire, I'm sure they can find a way of squeezing one into GTA V.
