There's so many ways they could have dealt with quickscoping that leaving it in was intentional. I'd personally have given snipers a movement speed penalty for the ghillie suit and the big gun on top of fixing quickscoping.

Also I could use LMGs quite a bit in MW2 but found them useless in Blops. Maybe it was the grip+quicker ADS you could have on the RPD which made it into a death machine. They don't have a massive benefit over a assault rifle, I mostly got into them to punish myself out of bad reload discipline.

SMGs are massively over-powered, there are plenty of long sight-line maps that should see LMGs raping them, especially if you're stationary and crouched, but SMGs are far too stable over range so the speed advantage and hit detection issue with speedy movement means they outgun almost everything. The M27 wins out because it's this games ACR with the zero recoil. Stick Toughness on and the only thing beating you is lag.

And yeah sniper rifles should be very heavy and have enormous recoil if fired standing. I hate the fact quickscoping is embraced since it's essentially an awful glitch of the auto-aim mechanic.

By the way, there's easily 20x times the proportion of arseholes playing on XBox than PS3. Don't know why it is but it's true.

It's absolutely true in my experience. 360 is just the mass market choice in the UK and US and then there's a magnetic effect where the further unwashed join up because their friends are on it.

Sniper rifles have a very wide hip fire radius so the bullet can randomly go anywhere in that circle. Quickscoping works because the aim tightens up to that central point while it's still coming up to the eye. The simple thing would be to randomly set the central point to somewhere in that radius, so a scope aim would be as random as a hip shot until it's manually adjusted. This wouldn't penalise normal snipers at all but would eliminate the benefit of quickscoping. At least they still deserve a chance firing at point blank range but it's so annoying to see them try their ~skillzzz~

Team Fortress 2 has the solution where as soon as you lift your scope you do a weak shot, and you need to have been looking down the scope for a few seconds to be able to do a full power shot, which is good but wouldn't suit the gun nut po faced CoD system.

SMGs are just so good because, ultimately, so much of the combat is short range, and the long range combat is never that long range. LMG damage doesn't drop off over range, assault rifle has a drop off at a far distance where it takes 4 bullets over 3, and then SMGs have a tighter dropoff, but it's never much of a disadvantage, and the quicker motion and aiming more than makes up for it. The UMP45 and silencer in CoD was deadly - Silencers were supposed to make the damage dropoff happen at a shorter distance but this was negliable with the UMP, so you were getting a silenced weapon with no downside.

PSN is the better community by a very wide margin. If all my friends weren't on 360, I would have sold that instead of my ps3.

Of course after I sold it I made a bunch of friends who own ps3s.

I'm also saddened by the decline of lmgs. I cleaned house with them in the first modern warfare but every time I've picked them up in subsequent games, they've been useless.

Fool. LMGs have destroyed for the last 4 games at least. I couldn't use them at all in COD4 until I started using them in MW2.

LMGs with Adjustable Stock makes you mobile as fuck after some practice.

I do NOT use them in Hardcore though.

Really don't think ghost is worth it in this game. You have to constantly be moving which means you are pidgeon holed into that rush down play style. And it's a lot easier to spot a moving target than the guy carefully moving from cover to cover.

I think it's better to equip a launcher and just take down uavs. Especially considering you get a lot of points for doing so.

On another topic, I can't believe how few people use smoke for objectives. It's soooooo useful. I've capped tons of points with bullets flying harmlessly by. I even got a tomahawk kill through the smoke by aiming at the muzzle flash. Yeah grenades are problem, but even those cant be thrown accurately through smoke. I've survived quite a few grenades, just because guy didn't throw it close enough.

I can adapt pretty easily to both. Most of my classes have an AR and dual pistols for when ghost comes up. Very often I would get caught shooting down a UAV, but with ghost I can stay in a controlled area while still being off the radar.

Smoke is ridiculously useful, but I rarely play objective games unless I have a full squad.

I think Ghost is useful since people are keeping their eye on the map when the UAV is up. UAVs don't come up as much as before the first patch obviously but you can surprise people. Obviously when the ridiculous lag effects are taken into account at times this can still be negated, but often I get surprised by people with Ghost on from my own point of view.

I also generally like being a sneaky bastard who know one can find. I like having a suppressor plus Ghost so that the other team, if they aren't communicating, just see their chums disappearing off the map and start to get worried. It always appalls/fascinates me how many times I can sneak up on two guys playing split-screen and still get them both when they're fairly close together sniping on the likes of Drone or Turbine.

God the net code for this game is garbage.

FA, in case you were wondering why you were doing poor in Dom, there's your answer. When I was in your game, you were killing it and i couldn't win a gun fight even with an orbital vsat. When I invited you, suddenly your shots weren't registering, and I was first place every match.

I played cod 4 recently, and it was like night and day. I didn't lose or win any encounter I shouldn't have.

In this game, the end result depends on if the net code is in your favor. Obviously it's nice when it is, but when it's not it can be very frustrating.

I'm not the only one who's noticed it either. There's videos all over YouTube on it. Playing with FA today pretty much confirmed for me what they've been saying.

Still going to play this, but I'll probably switch to bf3 for awhile.

I've been banging on about it on here as well. It makes the game unplayable for me a lot of the time. If it weren't for my mates getting me an XBox to play it with them on, there's no way I'd still be on this game. It's absurd they still haven't attempted to patch this. What makes it worse is that we STILL get matched with people from all round Europe most of the time. 6 of us played a clan from Italy and it finished something like 75-24 because they were flying around the screen like lightning and shooting before they came round corners. The killcams were pathetic. I got killed by a guy who from my point of view I had found side on and who ran past me while I was shooting him. From my end I just died and assumed I'd been shot by a sniper behind me, then the killcam showed the guy turning and nailing me.

That and you being the only person actually playing domination and not a kill limitless version of TDM.

Christ it's fucking annoying seeing your teammates running BY an uncapped C when spawning to go die at B.

Back to the gun talk, specifically LMG's.

Maybe it suits my playstyle, but I seem to destroy when using the LSAT. I didn't add any attachments until FMJ. I was able to get 2x triple kills in the same game probably..... 4 times in a row last night? Beyond that, I noticed a significant improvement in K/D. I am level 32, still consider myself a HUGE noob to this title, but damn that gun is great.

Play Ground War and Hardpoint almost exclusively. The LSAT has given me a renewed faith in MP

Hadn't played with any of you in so long decided to get rid of this and work on other titles, mainly Bioshock 2 and Saints Row.

Sold it with an unused Nuketown code so got more than I expected, announcement that night it was being released for free anyway.

I have given up CoD (yeah yeah, make the jokes)

Sat there one day, after going 24-3 in a string of good matches and got called a "cheating wall hacking faggot"

Thought to myself that despite doing well, the ones who noticed or commented on it obviously thought I cheated. So I impressed no one and basically me doing well was self gratification. I have become a very above average player and what has that gained me? Zilch. What had it cost?

Game $65
Internet $72 month ($360/5 months)
XBL - $10 month ($50 total)

To have the things needed to play, It required $475 to play for 5 months. I know net and XBL is not purely for but is needed regardless.

That isn't even counting any DLC.

I had made minimal progress in almost two dozen games, because I could just pick up and play CoD anytime. Felt like i was wasting so much time playing CoD and while i did enjoy it at times, it really is far too expensive to rebuy effectively the same shit every year.

Plus, CoD just made me frustrated as shit at times and now is gone.

I've had the game since Christmas but don't play all the time. A couple times a week for like 90 minutes at a time, if that. My K/D ratio is always crap so I earn most of my points through objectives, especially plants and defuses in demolition. If I get into a lobby filled with gayass spawn trappers, I just leave.

Just prestiged recently since I got bored of the points I was earning meaning fuck all.
