Haven't posted in this much, but now that we're down to the dirt with the best of the best, I'll go ahead and post some explanations and opinions.

Kurt Angle vs Ric Flair - Kurt Angle

I say this because Kurt Angle elevated himself to the main event in such a short period of time. Well, maybe the company elevated him, but that much is irrelevant because the faith in him obviously paid off. He is a five-star performer in the ring, on the mic and personality-wise. He is also fucking hilarious, and serious when he wants to be. Kurt Angle is absolutely perfect.

Ric Flair is all these things and more too, and he led the NWA. He would sell out arenas and shit, but he is slightly before my time. As successful as he was in his day, he still does the same moves to this day... He's a legend, yes, a classic, but he's a legend in the present, which isn't always so exciting.

Match 2
Shawn Michaels vs Chris Benoit - Shawn Michaels

This could be due to outshining, but Michaels would take this one by a nose in my opinion. Michaels has accomplished quite a bit in his career, and he brought alot of new concepts and charisma to the ring in his time. He is also living proof that little guys can make it in the main event, not that Chris Benoit isn't. Benoit is ALMOST on par with Bret Hart himself as far as in-ring work, as marginal a measurement as that could arguably be. Benoit also has a ruthless style, Dynamite Kid with a hint of total aggression and tenacity. I'm not sure how fair it is, since Benoit is even currently being terribly misused as the top wrestler in the company (as far as his push goes, or being over other guys when it comes to "wrestler strength" and position on the food chain). But for whatever reason, Michaels has had a greater impact on the company. I'd also add in that Shawn Michaels took a pretty big amount of heat at Backlash, and didn't allow it to effect his performance at all. He can still put on great matches, and unfortunately it looks like he'll be out of the equation... Just when he stopped fighting Triple H every fucking night. Oh well.

Match 3
Bret Hart vs The Rock - The Rock

This is nearly impossible for me. Bret Hart was absolutely perfect in the ring. No one really comes close. He executed everything with such grace and skill, never injured anyone, and is without a doubt the greatest wrestler when it comes to ring work in my opinion. There will never be anyone better. He wasn't a flop on the mic either, and he was a classic babyface in his prime. He epitomized what a wrestler should have been in his time.

However, The Rock was thrown into the mix with a terrible babykissing gimmick, an ugly look and really came off like a tool in the shitty underdog gimmick they gave him. When the fans turned on him for his boring/goody good attitude, he was given the freedom to take the emotion of resentment for the "Die, Rocky, Die" chants and express himself and become amazingly over as a heel. It was only a matter of time and practice that he became without a doubt, the greatest mic-worker ever. There are dozens of guys who can out-wrestle him, but he still brings a high amount of energy into the ring, and he sets fans on fire with a simple gesture. His appearances on RAW dramatically effecting the ratings, even though he isn't full time, proves that he is the man right now. It's too bad he's so busy, he could be the flagship of that company, and they need it right now.

So it's tough to go with my two favorites ever. Everyone is pretty much loyal to Bret Hart, and for good reason. However, my vote is going with The Rock, the man is the greatest. And he's still going. As much as I love Bret, I don't think he could carry a company like The Rock could if the need arised. I'm also slightly jaded on the possibility that Bret, much like his brother was martyred into some of his glory. (Notice the word, some)

Match 4
The Undertaker vs Chris Jericho - Undertaker

Chris Jericho, to me, is one of the most overrated wrestlers. I'm not saying he isn't a great wrestler worthy of a lot of praise, but I really don't see him breaking the sort of molds The Undertaker has in his career. Overrated, yet underappreciated, an odd paradox if you think about it. (Before I get replies from the numerous Jericho fans, please save it, I am still going to think he's overrated.)

Match 5
Owen Hart vs Hulk Hogan - Hulk Hogan

As much as I love Owen... Owen Hart was a jobber, God rest his soul. He was great, untapped potential... But he was still just that, untapped. His skills in the ring were amazing, but I don't even see how people compare the two. Perhaps too many mistake his tragic death as a reason to even put him on the same level as Hulk Hogan. It isn't about ring work in this one. Hulk Hogan was infallible back in the day. Owen Hart didn't even come close to making the sort of impact on wrestling Hogan did.

Match 6
Curt Hennig vs Stu Hart - Stu Hart

I love you Stu, but I really don't know much about you other than the fact that you trained some of the greatest technical wrestlers the world has seen. But that alone is enough for me. Sending guys like Bret, Owen and Benoit to the table are probably just a fraction of what he's done for the business. RIP Curt Hennig, you were a midcarder though.

Match 7
Mick Foley vs Steve Austin - Steve Austin

Foley is great and all, and I'm glad the WWE gave Foley his time in the main event and gave him the title a few times. Some guys who deserve it just like Mick aren't as fortunate. But Steve Austin lit a fire under the WWE's ass. Austin is revolutionary, like the biggest draw ever, and gave new life to the WWE. No comparison.

Honestly, the rest is pointless. Bret Hart is going to landslide the entire thing. May as well narrow down the last match to a 7-way.

Total Votes = 44
Winner = Purple
Tie = Red

Match 1
Kurt Angle 22 vs Ric Flair 22

In a classic battle between two people who besides being great wrestlers also seem to love the sound WHOOOOOOOOO. These two men fought long and hard but much like the first encounter between Flair and Sting neither man could finish off the other and as a result the matched ended in a 40 minute time limit draw.

YOUR WINNER: DRAW

Match 2
Shawn Michaels 30 vs Chris Benoit 14

Spoilers for the Great American Bash inside so highlight for the match details.

Michaels was on top from the opening bell, showing Benoit why he’s called him the Showstopper. HBK dominated the early going evening locking in his own version of the Crippler Crossface. Benoit would fight back but just when it seemed Benoit was going to take this match, an announcement that JBL had beaten Eddie Guerrero for the WWE title. A livid Benoit left the ring and marched off, to do what? No one knows. The referee made the obligatory 10 count and awarded the match to HBK

YOUR WINNER: SHAWN MICHAELS

Match 3
Bret Hart 34 vs The Rock 10

It was a battle between two great champions. The rock started off strong hitting a nice spinning DDT but Bret Hart would eventually take down the Hollywood star with his superior technical abilities. The end would see Bret Hart literally laugh off the Rock’s version of the sharpshooter and lock on his own to get the submission win.

YOUR WINNER: BRET HART

Match 4
The Undertaker 14 vs Chris Jericho 30

The supernatural powers of the Undertaker were no match for the power in numbers of Jericho’s fans. Though it seemed that UT would win this match easily, a ref bump would be his downfall. Every last one of Jericho’s internet allies stormed the ring and proceeded to beat The Undertaker into unconsciousness. The fans just as quickly as they came ran off before the referee came to. When he did, Jericho did his patented Come on Baby one foot pin and got the win

YOUR WINNER: CHRIS JERICHO

Match 5
Owen Hart 24 vs Hulk Hogan 20

Owen Hart dominated the Immortal one with technical skills, he absolutely dissected him. Hogan did manage towards the end to make it close but he would miss the leg drop, giving Owen the perfect chance to lock in the Sharpshooter and pick up the win

YOUR WINNER: OWEN HART

Match 6Curt Hennig 28 vs Stu Hart 16

It would not be another Hart 3 peat as Stu Hart would fall to the man who can only be called Perfect. Perfect would fight out of the many painful holds of Stu Hart and score the pinfall victory with the Perfectplex.

YOUR WINNER: CURT HENNIG

Match 7
Mick Foley 20 vs Steve Austin 24

Foley vs Austin, a classic late 90s match up. Foley would throw every hardcore trick he knew at Austin but Austin just kept coming, nothing Foley could muster seemed to work, Austin just sat back and waited for Foley to make a mistake and he did at 13:56 attempting to kick Austin in the gut he instead got spun around and Stunned, Austin made the cover and got the win

YOUR WINNER: STEVE AUSTIN
