Missed opportunities

Yeah. We've heard a million times why Goldberg/Hogan should've been on PPV. We've heard why Jericho's undisputed title run was complete nonsense. I just lost my mind recently again over the Edge/Matt Hardy feud. What, in your mind, was the biggest missed booking opportunity in wrestling? If not the biggest, just post one that really bothered you as a wrestling fan. Explain in detail of possible.

One that always really bothered me, while not being all that huge of a deal was the Hunter Hearst Helmsley/Goldust feud from 1997. These guys always just seemed like natural rivals to me and the short programs that they had together were always wonderful and memorable. They started off as equals and then eventually Trips left Goldust in the.. Err... Dust. To me this feud could have gone on for years and could have been constantly revisited. There is so much they could've done in a program with these two guys. Completely squandered. The mind games Goldust could've played between Trips and Chyna could've really been really great. When Triple H started his ascension to the top, Goldust could've gone right there with him. Dunno.

Narcissus spite tour of 2020. I have kids.

Not a huge case, but not throwing a bunch of support behind a big Drew McIntyre push after that Elimination Chamber where he was immensely good was a bit of a missed opportunity I think. Not saying he would've set the world alight, but he could've been a very solid hand in the upper midcard.

Easy answer is the Invasion...

but the post of Christian's titantron... yeah, 2005 could have been his year. He's always been my favorite and I felt so validated around that time. Then, he goes from WWE title match to US Title matches and then to TNA.

Christian may be one of the top 5 missed opportunities in the last 10 years.

It's hard to say that he's a missed opportunity because he's still got so much more to go, but as we speak, I would have to say Zack Ryder is a missed opportunity, he could be doing so much more right now, he doesn't even need to have the same gimmick. WWE is missing the boat with this guy, and I'm speechless that they continue to ignore all the fandom he gets.

Monty Brown could of been what Lashley should of been.

Also WWE should of offered Sting like, 50 trillion dollars and got him to fight Taker at Mania the other year when they had that 2/2/11 or som shit.

Monty Brown wasn't really anyone's fault, though. I mean, not in WWE. He may have well gone on to become the face of the company by now if real life stuff didn't get in the way. Kudos to him for putting family first.

I know I'll get disagreements to the point, but I wish WWE would have thought to at least have a followthrough with Cody Rhodes' threat to "pull an Ultimate Warrior" and hold bolt the IC and WHC. Maybe not have him actually win the world title, but at least build him up to be a legit threat for it and make it look like it was possible instead of it just being a throwaway promo.

Vader's initial WWF run was a missed opportunity.

I also feel like Mr. Perfect should have gotten a go at the WWF Title. (He was allegedly going to, but it was squashed by Hogan, who wanted Ultimate Warrior that year, instead).

Sure Noid said something similar about Cena/Carlito likening it to Austin/Rock/HHH, guys who could have been each others big rivals in a Batman/Joker sort of way which made a lot of sense.

The Invasion angle was a huge waste. Talent wise, why they never pushed Rhino based on being the last ever ECW champion and the overness he had with the Gore is baffling, Triple H treats him as a threat and he's on his way, but he got injured and jobbed out.

A few options, though they may not be major, epoch defining opportunites.

1) Ron Simmons coming as a former WHC in WCW and becoming the lackluster Farooq Assad. Ahmed Johnson's push should have been Ron's and he was more of a pro/athlete to make it work.

2.) A "real" Marc Mero heel push. In late '97/ early '98 Mero was the master of cheap heel heat. A good IC title feud with a credible face champ like XPac would have been fun.

3.) Taz(z), but that may just be preference on my part.

Always loved Test. They had a few chances to give him big pushes. He could've been a great sympathetic face after the failed wedding to Steph. I'd have liked him to stick around and always try to be a thorn in Triple H's side.

Then there was the immunity battle royal he won. In a time when the rosters were crowded, and it was fairly common for a guy to just get released out of nowhere, he could've been a great cocky heel who couldn't get fired so would just act like a prick for the sake of it.

Also would've liked Kronik to get kept on during the Invasion and not just squashed and sent packing.

Seeing as how the WWE is a million dollar company, I would say they've made good choices up to this point.

I agree. I'm starting to see where I veered off the correct path in life.

I will dedicate mt life to keeping shit wrestlers employed by a shitty company.

Nah.

If you are going to champion a cause, you should at least make it feeding the homeless or something noble.

If Tna closed there are plenty of strip clubs in Orlando these guys can bounce at. They will be ok.

Your voice does not matter in the Wrestling Business, the only voice that matters is the young adults that watch every week.

The WWE could care less what you have to say, although does living in your parents basement still make you a child hmm, I'll ponder this for a bit.

Maybe it'd be a billion dollar company...if they hadn't missed so many golden opportunities.

Well, I think given that they are a million dollar company, it is absurd to think that someone like yourself could do it better or have better ideas. That's all buddy, don't need to get all crazy.

It's also crazy to think because they are a Million dollar company that they haven't made any mistakes, which is the point of this thread. What part of that don't you get? Who said they could do better? We can talk about things we would have liked to see.

Once more, are you dense?

I really enjoyed Kronik in WCW but from the interviews I've seen Bryan Clark had no desire to go back to the WWE. (he only went for that short time because Adams wanted to go)

Kinda surprised nobody mentioned "Primetime" yet. He had a solid career and was a multi time tag champion in TNA but I really thought this guy had potential to be a huge singles star.

WWE not capitalizing on how red hot RVD's popularity was during the Invasion period.

WCW screwing up the aftermath of Goldberg's first loss since instead of continuing the Nash-Goldberg feud and maybe lead up into Hogan-Goldberg II, instead the Finger Poke of Doom occurred.
