I'll be mic'ed up and stuff, only if I could connect, we'll see when I get off work later. Feeling like it's the night I get to play.

My problem seems to lie with the first race, it loads continuously there, anyone have a suggestion I could try when I get home and attempt?

I had the same problem. I was told to clear the Xboxs cache and enable cloud storage and to try again. I did that a few times and it eventually worked.
I also loaded my story file as Micheal, then moved to Franklin, then moved to Trevor and then my character but I doubt that helped.

After the race, it went to another endless load screen but I reloaded and it's worked fine ever since.
