In the ring, the guy is nigh brilliant. For some fucking reason, for a while he was a guy with his smaller-than-most-stars frame doing a Spear. I don't know whose decision it was to go that route with him. But for the most part he has great matches. It's that they usually lack a story that lets his direction down. I've actually been uncomfortable hearing JBL on commentary rip into Christian's appearance. It just seems unnecessary. JBL should be a guy that is putting Christian over as a guy who is a survivor from his era. He's a guy that everyone said was too small to make it, and then had to watch as he's won twenty championships in the WWE, two of them World Heavyweight Championships and see him outlast everyone single one of his critics. That's a Christian that has value to the upper mid-card/main event scene of the company. Vince apparently has a thing against Christian. The two have worked together on the air and Vince has kept the guy employeed for as long as he's wanted to be employed. Hell, Christian left the WWE in 2006 and Vince let him come back in 2009 and he's been there since. He's even had two World Title reigns and got two runs with the ECW Title when it was a brand too. So it's not the sort of heat that will prevent Christian from contributing to the company as long as he wants to. But it just seems like the WWE wants to keep all the tools from him, besides his ring skills, that will allow him to actually really connect with people and make people want to buy the yearly Christian t-shirt. Last year, I was over the moon when Christian earned a World Heavyweight Title shot against Alberto Del Rio at SummerSlam. But it didn't seem right. Rob Van Dam was way more over and was fresh off returning too. Wouldn't Del Rio vs. RVD had made more sense? I'm not complaining Christian got an opportunity, but it just seemed so random. I really think that Christian might be the most weirdly used talent in WWE. It's like they want to say "Fuck yeah, look, we've given you Christian. He's a big star," but then they want to constantly remind you that he's not a big star. It's honestly like an abusive relationship where they WWE says they love Christian, and they occasionally give him gifts, but they cheat on him with his best friend constantly. It's just fucking weird. More and more I'm starting to see Christian get the blame for this too, and that kind of frustrates me, because whenever the guy is given an opportunity, he runs with it. The guy never has a bad match and never does a bad job on the mic. In fact, he always does a good job. He was the only guy who got to cut a pre-match promo before the Elimination Chamber, which is good; then he got to pin Sheamus after a crazy spot. Also good. But it's like the WWE wants to use those good things against him by saying "Well, we gave you a chance to draw, but you didn't." But then they want to keep giving Christian more opportunities. It wouldn't surprise me if Vince McMahon liked sitting opposite Christian and just staring at him for hours, not knowing what to think of the guy. The WWE almost seems to have this weird obsession with Christian. An obsession to have him just...there. The idea of Christian becoming a Paul Heyman Guy is actually a really fucking good one. Christian is desperate at this stage of his career. It wouldn't be a reach to imagine Christian selling out to Paul Heyman to get himself an opportunity. Christian can talk on his own, but he doesn't, so Heyman can do that. It might get Christian some lines on the side. He can get smug, but he can also keep his current serious shtick. Heyman might also "re-brand" Christian. I just find it odd that Christian has never changed his ring name. The idea of having a WWE Champion named "Christian" has just always seemed odd. Sheamus also has that, I guess, but there's something to Sheamus just being Sheamus. Christian could really use new theme music and new attire, but an aesthetic fix is only going to work if he gets some sort of direction about him. |

I'm excited that we seem to be heading for a Real Americans split. The split for The Prime Time Players and Tons of Funk haven't gone well, but Cesaro and Jack Swagger are on a different level. I'd like to see it over the Intercontinental Title, but if they do a Money in the Bank Ladder Match (I know the PPV is still around, but I can see them doing one here), then Cesaro and Swagger being in that would make sense.

You'd think if they wanted Cesaro to be the IC Champion, they'd have had him win the title on RAW and have the seeds of jealousy planted. But I guess it could still happen.

It'd certainly be a hot way to open RAW in Chicago.

Lost in Everything that happened last night, it dawned on me they didn't mention Viscera.

Couldn't have that sort of negativity on WWE Network day.
