Very true, but that wasn't his purpose coming in. He's not selling merchandise nor is anyone buying a ticket or tuning in to see Batista by himself. WWE called an audible and put Daniel Bryan as their star for WM XXX.

Even if they fucked up hardcore, which they did, with Batista, he is still a money making heel. People do not want to see this guy win, yet the "Authority" shoves him down our throats.

Batista is hated and he needs to revel in the hate.

A face is only worth his salt if he has a heel to go up against. Batista is the perfect foil for Daniel Bryan.
