Anyway, of course it was for Eddie, and for his fans and family and friends. Does that make it a bad thing? I wasn't aware that kind and endearing gestures were bad. As for Orton going over it'd have been a complete waste. The guy was already pretty well over by that period of time, and a triple threat win for the B-title wouldn't have done anything for him. In fact I'd argue that it was good for him because it helped lead him to becoming the guy he is today. Had he won the title there he'd probably have remained on Smackdown! longer, and been thrown into some "meh" feuds before losing the title to somoene that wouldn't have needed the rub and wouldn't give Orton a rub. All in all I think that Mysterio winning the title was a great way to cap off the entire story, and to give closure to the fans and people that loved Eddie. It also helped put Rey into Eddie's spot as "the" Latino star for WWE. |
