Let me explain why A.J. Styles is the X-Division Champ.

Because when TNA got their TV "deal" with Fox Sport Net, the NWA officials...lead by President Bill Behrens...thought that A.J. Styles wasn't known by enough casual fans, so no one would tune in if they thought some nobody (albeit incredibly talented) held the World Title. Well Jerry Jarrett (president of TNA...a sub company of NWA) AND even Jeff Jarett thought that A.J. Styles was the man who basically has put NWA-TNA on the map in the first place. SO, to honor him, they gave him the X-Title so the people (who NWA officalls think are tuning in to see Jarrett apperantly) could at least stand up and take notice of this other Champion A.J. Styles.

And to further clear up any misinformation. The NWA title that Jeff Jarrett holds right now is the ORIGINAL NWA World Heavyweight Championship with it's roots being traced back to Orville Brown winning it in 1940 on acount of the fact that he was the Midwest Wrestling Association World Champion and therefore was given the Title of NWA World Heavyweight Champion. The Title you see on RAW (provided it is as everyone assumes, a continuation of the WCW Title) which it's original Champion was Ric Flair who beat then NWA Champion Sting for title. Ric Flair went on to drop the title to Tatsumi Fujinami, and of course win it back and then VACATED the title for the first time in history when he jumped over to the WWF. Well this infuriated the NWA officals and it was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak, so they say that the Title Ric Flair held was NOT the NWA Title, it was the WCW World Title. And since the conception of WCW, the NWA Title had looked like this...

However the NWA Board still had the title that looked like this...

So by all rights the NWA still had not only the physical belt, but also the legal rights to the name NWA World Heavyweight Title, and so, NWA continued to hold on to the Title that is now known (as it always has been) as the NWA World Heavyweight Title...

Hope this helps.

Oh and I remember my first AJ Styles match...it was back in WCW when he was a tag partner of Air Paris, he was then called Air Styles...and even while being an opener in a crappy Tag Team...he STILL kicked ass!
