Don't really see anybody other than the Pats coming out of the AFC.

I almost want to see Cincinnati win next week and the Broncos get beat by oakland. Ravens would play Denver in the wild card game. Otherwise if the Ravens do get in they face whoever wins the division.

Putting the blame on yesterday's loss on Lisa Salters. Dropped the stat before the game that Peyton is 22-1 against the AFC North. Best record of any QB against a division. When you say something like that, said QB is obviously gonna lose the game.
Road to the Super Bowl goes through Foxboro. Unless someone pulls the ultimate shocker and beats the Pats at home, highly unlikely Broncos go back to the game. |

Couldn't find the audio clip from "I am America! And So can You!" I always scream this when somebody throws a pick against the Pats. |

Browns called up Rex "I started in a Superbowl you know" Grossman to see if he wanted the start on Sunday. He said nope, I'm good, family is in for the holidays.

If they lose to the Raiders they will have lost two in a row with Peyton looking like garbage for the last couple of weeks. The two things the Ravens do well on defense (stop the run, pressure on qb) was basically how the bengals won last night. The Broncos have been able to cover up whatever the hell is wrong with Manning with their run game since the Rams loss. The bengals stopped the run last night (86 yards) which was a bit more than half what they were averaging (145) since the Rams game.

To my knowledge, he hasn't been fired. And if he is I think it's top choice bullshit. Four seasons, three NFC Title games, and one Superbowl appearance. Dude knows how to win. One bad season is not grounds for firing in my (not so humble) opinion.
On that note, I also firmly stand behind Kaepernick. Things will be worked on and adjustments will be made. He will become more comfortable making his progressions and will hopefully re-establish his ground game. Meanwhile, that overrated asshole Michael Crabtree better show up to camp and work on making easy catches. We're called the "faithful" for a reason. It's one time I don't mind subscribing to the idea of faith. The team was plagued by distraction this season. And there were so many issues when it came to clock and game management. Also, play calling at times was atrocious. We'll work it out. There are bright spots to be built upon for sure. |

They don't want a team potentially having extra rest going into the first week of the playoffs. That's why they have every game on Sunday in week 17.

Alex Smith is ruled out for the game against the Chargers. Droford, want to explain how this is better for the Ravens? The backup QB has to be better than Alex Smith right?

so apparently before going to play at Miami on Sunday, Rex Ryan has cleared out his desk so he might be gone as Jets head coach.

I feel like Detroit-Green Bay may have been the better choice for the Sunday night flex because the reward for the winner is a first round bye. I'm guessing Pittsburgh being a bigger ratings draw may have swayed it that direction? I don't know. Seems like there's the least at stake between the four potential games that could have been flexed.

I think NBC also figures that Pittsburgh/Cincinnati might be a better game. You'd think two 11-4 teams should produce a good game but with Detroit's Lambeau losing streak looming large there aren't many who think they have a chance at winning.

Lions and Packers already had their playoff spots locked while the Bengals vs Steelers game had a juicer storyline going in for the final AFC spot. Edit: Completely forgot AFC had 2 spots and not just 1 available before the flex |

No one wants to make a case for Atlanta-Carolina or Kansas City-San Diego? They were both locked in as "do or die" games as opposed to just potentially being about playoff positioning which is what Cincy-Pittsburgh ended up being. I wouldn't have really minded either one. I like the idea of the Sunday night game before the playoffs practically being a playoff game in itself.

I would have been fine with Carolina/Atlanta, actually. It's obvious that NBC didn't choose it because it would be 2 shit teams, but that was the only 100% do or die for both teams with no debate. They flexed the NFC West game in 2010 which wound up being a bad division, and then Dallas running the NFC East gauntlet from 2011-13. IIRC in all 4 of those years it was winner advances, loser goes home.
Even San Diego/Kansas City wouldn't have really worked because I believe KC is last in line in the AFC. If Baltimore or Houston won earlier in the day the game wouldn't mean anything for KC other than trying to fuck it up for their division rivals. |
