Fandango has sort of turned babyface on the shows nobody watches and this Axelmania angle seems to be a bit of a comedy jobber role. Axel likely won't win a single match until Mania and then everyone will gang up to throw him out first or something. Then somebody with no build will win and be promptly forgotten about.

That, too. This little gimmick he has going on right now isn't really something that requires him to win matches anyway. It's a silly gimmick where a jobber is claiming rights to the main event at WrestleMania. Just because he has a thing going on with his character doesn't automatically mean it must translate to wins.
