The Walking Dead companion series will air late this summer with 6 episodes and season two will be in 2016. I'm seeing the word prequel being thrown around but I wouldn't consider it a prequel unless it shows how the current group was before the outbreak or is a short series that ultimately winds up at Rick waking up. To me it seems more like a companion show that just starts earlier and in a different place.
