Last night, he lost to Kevin Owens. He had an incredible match that made Owens look like one of the biggest stars in the entire company. In his first match. He got laid out by Kevin Owens multiple times.

If Cena had done what Kevin Owens did, there'd be an infinite flood of posts talking about him burying someone. He was on the receiving end, but still, it's "OMG Cena is going to interrupt."

Of course he's going to interrupt. They're fucking feuding. Kevin Owens just ran him down.

I'm legitimately curious as to what you would like to happen and what you would expect to happen, because this seems like pretty much everything everyone who can't stand Cena has been asking for over the past forever, and now it's not good enough.
I honestly wouldn't have any trouble if the guy didn't have a belt he didn't need. Yes, he defends it quite often and that's all well and good, but if Owens actually gets a U.S. title shot, what are the actual odds he wins it? Infinitesimal if you ask me.

People were complaining that the US title didn't matter and was attached to jobbers, so they give it to the biggest name in the company who has above average to great matches every week for two months after winning it, but then "he doesn't need it."

Kevin Owens beat John Cena clean in the middle of the ring once, but there's no chance he'll beat him for the title that you're implying is below John Cena?

Well, there certainly isn't any chance if Cena never decides to give him a shot at it. I'm very slightly hopeful that their next match could have it on the line, but it may not be, and who knows if they'll have a 3rd match down the line?

I guess I'm just hoping I'll finally be proven wrong in my thinking that Cena will just win the next match or 2 against Owens and win yet another feud...but with all the stuff that's gone down re: Cena in the past 10 years, I've just grown increasingly more disillusioned with him every year, if nkt every month or even every week. It's just the same thing, new shirt with different color scheme, maybe a belt here or there...it's just his whole "conquering hero" schtick seems so stale right now, and I think he could really, truly benefit from some time off. I know that's not his M.O., but still.

Kevin Owens started the feud off by basically saying that he didn't care about the US Title because it was below the NXT Title. It's not a matter of John Cena not giving him a shot.

I understand being disillusioned and suspicious about Cena. I really do. I've been there a lot myself, but last night--and the whole feud with Owens--has been completely different than the usual pattern. There are not many men who have beat John Cena clean--and while that may be an indictment in and of itself, you shouldn't let that cancel out something that is 100% different and great.

The last few people that beat John Cena clean? The Rock in like 2012. Daniel Bryan at Summerslam in 2013. Brock Lesnar in 2014. Those guys did pretty okay. They don't hand out clean wins over Cena without having a plan for the guy. He's not going to get Ruseved, who won under very ignomious circumstances. They're doing pretty much what everyone's always wanted, and it's just really frustrating to see that get ignored because "lol cena."
