Why was it stupid? Taker didn't win cleanly, he tapped out then low blowed Lesnar for the win. It then sets up the possibility of a third and perhaps final match between the two of them which people want to see. I can't see how that is stupid (re: increased interest for their match, subscriptions and buys go up etc).

No I remember the gist of what was discussed. They were never going to allow The Streak to end and then not have The Undertaker seek some measure of revenge etc. Having him win this way paves the way for a final encounter possibly for Wrestle Mania.

I don't think Sheamus will be involved in the storyline at all and I also predict he will "lose" the briefcase i.e. it will be put on the line in a match and he loses.

It's worth remembering that there was a heavy rumor in 2010 that WWE would give Bret a very short run with the WWE Title as a "thank you" for coming back (gave him the US Title instead). A year later there were plans to have Lawler win the belt from The Miz and then drop it back before WM.
So the whole "legend comes out of nowhere to win the WWE Title" idea is one WWE has thought about pretty recently. |

I have to say it would be awesome to see Sting as the WWE Champion and perhaps winning the Royal Rumble along the way.

Thought HHH set Rollins up for a second the way he got out of the ring. Wonder if they go the ROH rout and have him defend both titles separately. If he was to lose the US title to Cena and the WWE title to Sting at NOC that would for sure piss HHH off and start that feud.

Cena absent from WWE programming for 3 plus weeks not going to happen. Would rather see him try to get his US title back. He has no claim to a WWE title shot. He can use his rematch clause but that would only be for the US title. So Rollins should pull double duty at NOC and defend both titles.

lol Norman Smiley is, without exaggeration, the worst poster in TPWW history.
I was gonna actually go into Trish/Lita, the Trish/Mickie James feud or how NXT Divas matches are consistently the most compelling on the shows but... Norman Smiley. |

I was thinking that, too. Just with the US Title as the first fall. Seems anti-climactic the other way especially if Sting wins the world title.

That's actually a perfect idea. Especially because you can have shenanigans to keep Cena out of the title picture but still put the US belt back on him.
Pumped to see Sting. Looked like he was moving exceptionally well. |

Triple H, Stephanie and Seth sold Sting showing up really well. I know they tried to protect Sting with shenanigans at Mania, but he really should have won that match. BUT, it does allow for Rollins to arrogantly slap some shit in Triple H's direction. Eg. "You couldn't even beat Triple H at WrestleMania..." "What do you mean he couldn't even beat me?"
Given that Rollins holds both the World and US Titles, it stands to reason that he'll have to defend both at Night of Champions. Rollins vs. Cena for the US Title and Rollins vs. Sting for the World Heavyweight Title. And I'm actually thinking they put the World Title on Sting. This collapses The Authority, as Triple H now has issues with Rollins for losing all the gold, Cena is still the US Champion, and Sting could be used to put pretty much ANYBODY over huge. Like, it could be Ziggler, Sheamus, Lesnar or even Taker. They're doing the Garden show as a special on the WWE Network -- don't tell me that Sting vs. Taker for the World Heavyweight Title in the Garden wouldn't be pretty fucking amazing. |

And a thought on why the crowd reacted to Lana/Summer better than Paige/Charlotte/Becky/Nikki/Brie/Alicia. Tom Guycott pointed it out -- there's more meaning there. And the story between Summer Rae and Lana is clearly defined.

They probably should have just brought in one girl for this "Revolution," and had it be Charlotte. She and Paige could have beaten The Bellas, then both ended up as rivals chasing the titles. Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch could have easily gotten a few more matches out of their classic earlier this year. I was hoping for an eventual 2/3 Falls Match, and maybe even the first-ever WWE-sanctioned Ladder Match between two ladies.

Ironically, that would have helped Nikki's reign a lot more, because Paige and Charlotte could end up feuding, costing themselves shots at the title, and Nikki could just coast through life really easy.

Really, really want Sting to win. I do think they're going to go down the "Hey, you have two titles now, you gotta defend them both..." path, and have Rollins work with Cena, then play bouncy ball for Sting.

Throw that in there with The Dudley Boyz challenging for the WWE Tag Team Titles, and you have a pretty surreal PPV.

I've got a feeling that if Sting felt he shouldn't go over Triple H at WrestleMania, then he probably doesn't want to de-rail Seth and win the World Heavyweight Championship. In fact, he'll probably insist John Cena beat Rollins and he doesn't...

Still not feeling Braun Stowman in the role he's in. Seems very...hapless out there. Not experienced enough for this shit. And now that Sting is facing Rollins, who does that leave for Reigns & Ambrose? Orton? Cesaro? A 2-on-3 Handicap Match?

Depending on what happens with Lesnar, if he angrily "goes home" because of the bullshit finish to his match, Taker joining The Shield against The Wyatts could be a thing. He wouldn't have to work too much in a 6-man and you'd add another major name to a B-level PPV card that's already SummerSlam worthy.

Sting, The Dudleys, John Cena and Ryback as the champions would just be a crazy encapsulation of every era in modern wrestling all at once. A picture should be tweeted if that happens.

My problem with the clusterfucks is that no one gives a shit about Los Matadores or Lucha Dragons right now. And that's sad. The New Day really should have beaten two jobbers on RAW or something. Would have emphasized The Dudleys returning as being huge stars. Also, a lowly match for The New Day would have been great to build their heat as punk heels that suck up to The Authority.
Lucha Dragons should have beaten The Ascension on Superstars, and then they should move onto a program with Diego y Fernando on SmackDown. You know, to actually build tag teams to challenge for the Titles down the track? Dragons win the first match, and the following week, Diego y Fernando do a quirky interview segment where they put the Dragons over, but claim it was a fluke and that they know they can beat Sin Cara y Kalisto. Second match, they lose to the Dragons again. Third times the charm right? Matadores win that match when they use the tights or something, and initiate a proper heel turn. Going from that, The Lucha Dragons can work with Los Matadores in singles matches. Sin Cara and Fernando were actually a tag team in FCW, so I bet they have good chemistry. Have Fernando win that match, because Sin Cara is lower priority than Kalisto -- who does manage to beat Diego. This all builds to Masks vs. Masks, which The Dragons win, forcing Diego y Fernando to reveal themselves as Epico & Primo Colon -- former WWE Tag Team Champions. The Colons then attack Lucha Dragons in a rage, coming out of their masked personas with a new vengeance, and start cutting promos about how they were The Crown Princes of Puerto Rico but get no respect in the WWE. That thing could go on for months and make for some fun lower-card programming that could actually get everyone over. |

I think The Prime Time Players get their rematch on RAW or SmackDown sometime, and get put through tables to send a message to The Dudley Boyz. No need to book too many teams for Night of Champions -- it'll dilute the match and things may not get into a proper rhythm. The Dudleys can be the face challengers; The New Day the heel champions. Simple. The Prime Time Players make their return at the PPV, take out Xavier Woods, and The Dudleys 3D their way to a tenth WWE Tag Team Title.
On RAW, The Dudleys claim that they don't need help to win championships, and actually take issue with Darren Young & Titus O'Neil sticking their noses in their business. Young & O'Neil mouth off a little bit and stand up for themselves, and you include them in the title picture with some build. |

Stowman's call-up really is an odd one the more I think about it. Unless I missed something he's never wrestled a match at Full Sail. Only has done NXT house shows and the like. Given WWE's emphasis on building NXT as a true developmental system with the same ring size, camera set up, etc. that they'll see on Raw it seems kinda hypocritical to call somebody up with very little experience.
Pretty clear it just came down to the fact that he looks the part with the size and beard. I'm sure Rowan would have gotten the spot if he were healthy. |
