Having Part Timers Losers

Sting is now 0-2 in WWE PPV (will he ever get out of Vinny Mac's doghouse)
Jericho is 0-20something in his Limited run PPV matches
Throw in names like Batista, and even The Rock, the WWE recently seems to bring in part timers only for them to lose. Does this help or hurt the current talent, and the WWE universe as a whole? Opinion, Thoughts?

Part Timers should only be used for putting people over.

It would be exponentially worse if the part-timers came in and buried the current talent. I'm perfectly content with part-timers never winning a single match. What's the harm in someone like Jericho giving a rub to young talent (phrasing) ?

The problem comes from WWE doing nothing with said rub.

Remember when The Ascension were doing the whole "better than they really are" angle, boasting against former tag teams, which ended up leading them (with a clumsy build, mind you) to a victory over the New Age Outlaws in a manner similar to when Gunn and Dogg themselves got their career boosting rub from LoD?

Difference was, Konnor and Viktor were subsequently dropped from the face of the earth, only to recently re-appear (relevance wise) as Cody's acolytes. It's not like they were being groomed for world title, company carrying status as singles competitors, they could have eaily been slow built to live up to their own "hype", instead, much like most talent that has graced the ring in the last decade or so, they go into "we're bored now" mode and drop them from RAW and give jobber entrances/matches on Smackdown.

They make Jericho look less impressive when he loses to a guy who's punished for reporting his own injury and completely dropped from TV instead of losing to a guy who cuts promos and carries an angle with it until he's cleared to compete again.

Sting losing last night is fine... unless they just sweep it under the rug and pretend him vs Seth never happened for whatever reason, then just inexplicably drop him from main event status to go fuck off in midcard matches with no Authority blowoff or somesuch. Then, who gained anything?

For every Rock vs Cena or Lesnar vs Undertaker, where nobody really gets hurt from the outcomes, they too often try to use a "Legend" (as it were) to try to make a star seemingly overnight, and if the crowd doesn't unanimously rally behind the young lion within the span of a week, well, then, the whole thing gets scrapped.

Disagree. Cena vs. Rock is a good example of this. Again, they ended up not doing much with the outcome, save use it to promote it's own rematch, but Cena lost to The Rock, and sent the crowd home happy in a match that was an attraction unto itself. This is better than, say, Rocky losing to Cesaro and then hypothetically not doing anything with Cesaro afterwards like they've been doing for real.

Having part timers lose is not the problem. They should be there to put over younger talent. But in Stings case it does him no good to put guys over without doing anything in WWE. What does Rollins gain from beating a guy that lost to HHH at Mania. If Sting beat HHH he would be a legit title contender instead of just placing in a WWE title match. Now Rollins loses to Cena and beats a guy that has never won a singles match in WWE. What good did it do for Rollins? He should have either left with both titles or none at all.

Agree with this. Its nice of Jericho to want to give back or help the younger stars but the WWE has been horrible making his losses have any real meaning.

He lost to Fandango at Wrestlemania and instead of using that as the launch of Fandano's big push, WWE basically does nothing with it. Same with the feud with Bray that did nothing for Bray in the long run.

Only real positive is at least Jericho isn't treated like Big Show in the sense of feeding on guys who need the rub way more and get their own pushes dropped (ex. Rowan, Cesaro). Then toss that all away on something half-assed that doesn't benefit the person who beats him and makes the guys fed away look worse in the end.

HHH needs to be kept strong because the money program that they are building towards is Hunter v Rollins. The Sting stuff is really just filler. Both guys had to go over Sting to tell the story.

As fir Cena winning, I believe that was done to lead to another Rollins v Cena match, this time for the world title. So it also made sense.

Each part timer is unique. I think certain guys need to win to stay strong and others are more support players who can lose most of the time. You can't have these guys lose every time though, because then they hold no value. Great example is Sting. If Sting loses to HHH, helps keep Hunter strong so he can put over Rollins, then it was a smart move.

If Sting beats Rollins that would have given HHH a reason to be pissed at Rollins and start that program. Rollins could then go over HHH with the stipulation being if he won he got his rematch and then he could beat Sting. Now we get Rollins/Kane? Kane should be in Big Shows place at MSG really, it is the Hell Tour.

It really just depends on the person.

Like CyNick said, it depends on the story.

HHH and Seth Rollins both beating Sting plays into the eventual HHH vs Seth Rollins feud. Especially when Seth can say he did it without help. It sucks that Sting has basically lost 2 of his 3 WWE matches, BUT, at the same time, storyline wise he is significantly older, and in regards to Rollins, by far a "lesser" athlete. The real FU to Sting was the fact that ROllins beat him clean after he lost to Cena, and AFTER Cena AA'd him on the floor.

Jericho beating Neville in Japan made perfect sense. He made Neville look like a star, but he maintained enough credibility to make other people.

Lesnar is a part timer who looks like an absolute beast, and when someone beats him clean, it will matter (assuming it isn't Taker).

Yea that was the only problem I had with it. Cena comes out looking the strongest holding a secondary title. While Rollins as the WWE champ can beat an old man he cant beat the US champion. If Rollins was going to beat Sting he should have beat Cena to.

I hate when they bring in legendary guys like Jericho (and now Sting) and have them do absolutely nothing of interest and then job. I feel like Jericho's return could've been much bigger and Sting's WWE debut should've been an absolute HUGE event.

Instead its like,

"Hey guys theres Sting, remember him? Lol he sucks"

Or

"Hey Remember Jericho? Hes gonna wrestle someone for no reason what so ever and lose. "

Like come on.

If a real competitor was around WWE would've had EPIC storylines for both of these guys and they can perform. Still mad that WWE didn't do Sting/Taker. I know the match would suck more ass then an ass sucking contest but storyline wise it could be immense.

Older wrestlers are supposed to job. That's how the cycle is meant to work.

You can give them a win here or there to not make their purpose totally obvious, but for the most part they're there to elevate the younger talent.

Its not just about giving HHH a reason to be pissed. HHH is a part time guy, but he will be in WWE forever. Therefore, you need to keep his name value as high as possible. Having him lose to Sting AND eventually to Rollins, after having put over the Shield in Evolution, would make HHH look really weak. The whole HHH-Rollins storyline isnt just "I am pissed, lets fight". Its HHH is using himself as a measuring stick to judge whether or not Rollins can hang as being the face of the Authority. Eventually Rollins is either going to have to pass that test, or HHH will drop Rollins for someone else and claim that he's missing something to be an all time great. To which Rollins will prove himself by beating Hunter.

As for Kane, he's in the perfect spot. Kane got his ankle broke by Rollins, now Kane is back for revenge. This a B level show coming up, so its a B level main event.
