You'd have Cena out of action for a couple months after the attack... You'd use the Rumble to stall and stretch out the eventual confrontation/revenge while keeping Joe looking like a fucking stud... You'd eventually have the match made for WrestleMania after Joe has spent 5 months building credibility as the guy who put Cena out of action and dominated the competition as US champion... and then you'd have Cena be triumphant at WrestleMania. Once. You wouldn't book multiple rematches so Cena can COMPLETELY remove any doubt that he's miles ahead of Joe. You'd have two guys step in to the scene to take each guys' attention and branch off onto their own paths. You'd have both guys keep looking strong. You wouldn't drill the point into people's heads that Cena is completely superior. He'd have his win, Joe would have that one single loss and down the road, if you wanna have a rematch, it would be HUGE.

I guarantee if WWE booked that angle leading to Mania and Cena went over. People here would say Joe got burried.
Seems illogical that a feud goes from major injury to career threatening to well let's just move on then. And what would Joe's next program be? No matter what it would be a huge step down just like Owens'' was. And again people in the IWC would be like "burrrrrried".
You guys respect Steve Austin, right? He said it was the right thing for Cena to go over Owens 2-1.
