According to Activision, the Taken King expansion pack managed to bring 5 million new players to the game with the overall total at 25 million now. In regards to the Playstation versions, broke a few records as a result.

Some new stuff was announced to be arriving within the near future for the game.

First is a few new updates adding some new stuff for the game.

For starters Lord Shaxx will sell the three legendary swords, just in case you did something with them. Also, players will be able to buy weapon parts from the Gunsmith finally, and the Quiver glitch will be fixed for Hunters, enabling the talent again.

Iron Banner will be returning, and hopefully it won't be as broken as last time. It will switch to Clash, and reputation gains are increased by 20%, more packages can be obtained, and the rewards are said to be better as a whole. We'll see.

The other being a reward-like service for referring people to purchase the game. Program itself is still being tweaked which is why Bungie didn't reveal what types of rewards will be available.

You really don't wanna be under 280. The damage/defense curves between 280+ to 300-/+ are minuscule as to be irrelevant. We're talking difference of .02 hitpoints here. Bungie explained this in detail when people wondered how Banner would deal with the new light system. More or less how it always did, Don't enter if you're not strong enough to do end-game activities.

I still play the game but I can't in good grace recommend somebody buy it at this point. It is totally not for anyone. I'm grown impatient of searching for secrets. I dunno, I just get extremely testy when I'm asked to search for things. I like a set path to things I want, which makes the current RNG/loot crate reward system of today's shooters very aggravating for me. There's a Shader my buddy wanted for the better part of a year that will absolutely not drop for him no matter how much PvP he plays (and he plays a lot). I got it on a random day after a match I didn't even do well in. There's a badass Shader I want that drops, maybe, after you beat Skolas in PoE. I dread doing it (the new light system makes it no less a walk in the park), and then not getting it.

It's just not a good system for me.

Bungie changed their long term plans for Destiny again. Dropping big expansion type packs in favor of smaller event based stuff for future content. Also will be releasing a new stat tracker for the game's micro-transaction system next month.
