What makes you say that? Mark Hamill does pretty damn well for himself, and he doesn't seem like the type to waste his money. He probably doesn't need to work another day in his life at this point if he didn't want to, and with Star Wars right now he's got a much bigger gig going than playing the Joker in animated DC stuff. I see no reason to believe that he didn't fully intend to hang up the purple suit once and for all before being told that the Killing Joke would be getting a shot. I mean that comic is literally one of the most iconic in history. Him breaking "retirement" to come back for it is totally understandable.
