It's scary but it's not his worst. I found Misery to be particularly unsettling but it's his short stories that really do the job.
A lot of his short fiction is nightmarish.
There's a truly terrifying tale about a man trapped on a desert island with a shitload of heroin and no food and it seriously freaked me out.
Even King said he went a little too far with that one.

Survivor Type,which is a great short story. IIRC was in the Skeleton Crew collection.

Not even close he has a short story called "N" that makes IT look like Twilight

his short stories are nightmare fuel.

Not even close. Hell it isn't even King's scariest book. For me the scariest book ever is Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door. But lots of that is because the book is based on a real event.
