Once the WWF went national, the South dried up. Especially by the late 80's when WCW couldn't fill a rec centre.

It's why people called wrestling "WWF" and not "wrestling". You'd NEVER find a WCW wrestler on a national talk show, national appearences etc....

Trying to draw a false comparison between being on a national talk show and success. the fed is called new york for a reason. Theyre based out of the largest market with the largest media share. This is the same reason you will see national coverage on the new york jets no matter how shit they are but not on the jags or the bucs. Larger media share. Thats all. This doesnt indicate any as glamorous stature as you'd hope it would.
