There's a huge difference between letting the audience fill in some of the blanks, and letting the audience fill in all the blanks. The latter is just lazy writing.

I’m all for this. Just checking I haven’t missed some really important plot developments. It just turns out we went from Page 4 of the plot to Page 7.
